Ginger

Did I remember that you are going to school for early childhood Ed?

How far are you in your program?

What is your plan for after graduation? Preschool? KG??

If you ever need any ideas, I can tell ou what happens at L's school! :)

Re: Ginger

  • Yes Ma'am you did remember correctly! :) I'm going for Early Childhood Ed and development. I will be able to teach K-3. But I also graduate with my reading endorsement, so I can teach reading in any grade, but I plan to stick to children (preferably kindergarten or First grade). I love the atmosphere of just learning to read and recognize words.

I am currently a junior. I am taking five classes right now, I will take 5 over the summer, then 4 classes with my pre-internship  in the fall. Then this time next year I will be knee dip in my internship (yikes!). But I cannot wait to be done. I've already started looking into buying books for my classroom library. :)

I would LOVE any cool ideas you come across.  And I mean anything. If you come across a cool book you really like, let me know! If you ever feel up to it, I wouldn't mind taking any criticisms that you may have as a parent as well. I am an open book!!

PS- That's why I asked about the box. I was like, what cool idea is this?!? Plus, I'm in like kid mind frame and had to know. lol Today in class we practiced different ways to encourage word families (among other things). I just love getting cool, fresh ideas.

    Thanks for thinking of me!

  • Awesome! Early childhood is one of my loves! I say start your library now, so you can build over time. I bought a lot of my classroom books from the Scholastic Warehouse Sale.

And I still always check out children's books at goodwill and other thrift stores.

I also look for wood puzzles that can be rotated out.

Some books off the top of my head that have been favorites are:
    Icky Sticky Monster
    Pete the Cat series
    Knuffle Bunny series

You've probably seen this, but Ls classroom uses a smart board and an iPad which is pretty cool. I think because I was a public school teacher, I was important to me for her to go to PS in a school program as opposed to a church or MDO.

One of the fine motor activities that I thought was cool was hammering golf tees into a pumpkin.

I'll let you know if we come across anything new!
