Hi ladies. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your Junebugs!
I've got a little dilema and was wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me. My LO had RSV 3 weeks ago and since then has refused to take a bottle. I still breastfeed her all the time but I work Tue-Thurs. which is where we are having the problem. She is with my MIL and my mom on the days I work and is refusing a bottle at both houses. She will not take breastmilk or formula from a bottle which she has been doing since July. I have tried changing the nipple, changing to a different bottle and still she refuses. She will drink water from her sippy cup with a straw and a soft spout or when I hold an open cup for her. Yesterday we tried putting the milk in her cups but still she refuses! I'm not overly concerned since she still loves to nurse but would like her to get some milk during the 7-9 hours that I'm away from her on the 3 days that I work.
I know other babies that have gone on nursing and/or bottle strikes after they start solid foods but still any advice would be great!
Thanks in advance!
Re: Refusing a bottle-advice needed!
I would say to keep offering it though.
My DS refuses the bottle all.the.time. When he's teething, when he doesn't feel good, when he is distracted and when he would just rather have the boob. My grandma is our DCP and she will offer by spoon, sippy cup, open cup, room temp, warm, etc. Some days he drinks more than others.
When he doesn't drink much bm, she offers him more purees and water in his sippy. He always makes up for it when I get home.
I know this isn't helpful, but I wanted you to know that you aren't alone. Have the DCP keep offering the bm and hopefully she will come around. GL!
