Hernia at 12 weeks

I've been having pain, and my ob and a surgeon both think that I have an inguinal hernia. Has anyone else had experience with a painful hernia this early in pregnancy, or know of anyone who's had surgery in the second trimester for a similar issue? TIA for any help -- being in pain and kind of freaked out is not the best combination ever.
