DH snoring keeping you up?

So you know how sometimes men gain sympathy weight when you're pregnant? Yep, dh has gained somewhere between 15-25 lbs over the past 9 months. It's not all because of sympathy- though when I want ice cream, he gets to eat it too- he started working as much overtime as possible to save money and that meant his 3 nights a week at Jiu Jitsu had to stop so he's lost all of his tone from that. He's 6'6" so the added weight only makes him more handsome, but he has picked up a wicked snore in the last few months!

As of a few weeks ago I could no longer sleep more than an hour at a time because of it. I told him I was going to record it so he can hear how ridiculous he sounds.

Anyway last night I bought him Breath Right strips for his nose, and it was like sleeping next to a different person. I wore one too (why lie, I've started snoring almost as badly), and I think we both slept MUCH better because of it! THANK THE LORD! I needed a good nights sleep so badly!

Why didn't I think of that weeks ago!?

  • I wish Breathe Right strips would work for my DH! He snores like a freight train.  Unfortunately, he has a third cold in just as many weeks, and nothing is helping him this time around.  I told him that the doctors were going to make him wear a mask when the baby comes!

  • My SO isn't so bad, but if anyone has suggestions for getting the dog to stop snoring that would be great! I can hear her snore from anywhere in the apartment. It isn't so bad until I have to get up to go pee, and don't get back to sleep.

  • I started sleeping in ear plugs a year or two ago. They block out low sounds like snoring, but I can still hear higher pitch noises like my kids talking or crying. It has worked wonders for me! I've never not heard things I need to hear, but I can totally sleep through my husband's snoring!
  • We tried everything for my DH: weight loss, breathe right strips, etc, and nothing worked. Turns out he's got sleep apnea. Now he's on a CPAP machine. The only problem is that the machine is almost as bad as the snoring. I don't think we've slept in the same bed in 3 years because of it. It sucks.
