Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I need some reassurance.

This week my DD had a super weeks of new skills. Crawling, rolling belly to back, waving and clapping.

Is that why she isn't interested in eating?? Feeding her in impossible, she clamps her mouth shut and wont drink. I have to sneak in a bottle when she is falling asleep most of the time. She has dropped 2 bottles a day this week, for a total of 15 to 20oz a day and I am nervous she isn't getting enough nutrition. She also eats 6-8 tbsp of solids a day and has no signs of teething.

Re: I need some reassurance.

  • My DS does this but he hasn't learned to crawl yet. Daycare normally sneaks his bottles in when he's about to wake up from his naps or mix it with his solids in order for him to take it. I do notice when he's learned a new skill or makes a mental leap of some sort he tends to drink less. But then again he doesn't take in much to start off with. I think he's at 20 oz most these days.

  • Just curious, how old is your DD? DS doesn't seem close to waving or clapping at all, but has done the other things. He's almost 7 months.

  • My sisters baby had no sight of teething except that she wouldn't eat!

Alizabethanne- I've noticed babies develope their skills all at such different paces. My LO waved at 5.5 months, crawled at 7.5 and didn't clap until 8. I know others that were walking before they clapped, so don't worry at all! I'm sure you child has some skills others her age don't and visa versa!
