My Siamese Sassy is meant to turn sweet sixteen in April. I had no trouble believing that she will until today.
For the past week, she has been eating less and less daily. Sassy usually weights 30lbs. She lives to eat and loves anything from her canned food, dry food to anything in your hand. She has been on a diet for 1 year and has lost her weight down to 18lbs.
On a normal day, she'll get her wet canned fancy feast in the am and 5-6 handfuls of dry food through out the day. (she usually only eats a few bites before leaving it) And she drinks 5 oz of water a day.
For the past week, she has stopped asking for and eating dry food. The hot to cold weather here was making her arthiris worse so I thought she didnt feel like eating. She's been eating less and less wet food until 02/13/13 when she took one bite and walked off. Also, she stopped drinking water. She also is very lethargic. Normally, she spends the day asleep and the nights being a playful lovebug. Now , she gets up to eat 1 bite, take a lap of water and pee before it is back to the couch.
We took her to the vet today. She has lost 3 lbs of weight and has gained 6lbs of bright lemon yellow fluid. The vet called her stomach a waterbed. Her neck is thin as a kitten's tail and her eyes, ears and gums are very pale.
Her blood tests came back good. She is anemic but her liver and kidneys are working just fine. Her heart sounded good but the vet needs to listen again once all the fluid is gone. She does not have cancer, diabetes(sp) or heartworms however,
they have no idea what is wrong with her. So she is spending the night at the vets for more tests and to remove fluid, give IV liquids an to force feed her. I'm sure she's lonely and I'm missing her like crazy.
I need prayers for an answer on her condition, a speedy recovery and an ease of heartache for both of us.

I'll keep her in my thoughts. After going through something similar with my dog, I can tell you that the fact that there's no cancer showing, and her major organs look good is very promising.
She could have a form of anemia like my pup does, which is treatable. Hopefully it is something manageable and she's feeling better soon.
I'm sorry to hear your fur baby is sick. T & Ps for her and you guys.

Update:
Sassy is doing so much better. They have drained the fluid and checked her heart. It is good as well as the other organs.
They have been keeping her hydrated with an IV and she is back to eating on her own. According to the vet, she has been eating them out of house and home they say and has been very vocal. This sounds like my girl.
If Siamese are anything, they are vocal. If she is awake, she's yowling at you for something. She's like a human toddler, if she is quiet, she is either sick or up to something.
They will keep her another night to finish testing, the vet spent the day operating so she got today to rest and hopefully, they will find a why and she'll get to come home.
I believe in medicine but I believe more in prayers so
Thank You for your Thoughts and Prayers and please continue to send them.
