PP Bleeding

As a follow up to the post a few days back...

How late did you have/pass a good sized clot?

I had one tonight that was about 2.5" in diameter and these things just make me so paranoid!  I am not bleeding heavily now (which I know is what to be worried about) but still... I keep hoping every time I pass one that it will be the last!

Re: PP Bleeding

  • Have you called your OB about it? I'm pretty sure you're supposed to call if you're passing any clots bigger than a golf ball, and 2.5" is certainly larger than a golf ball... I'm 3w PP today and I haven't had any real visible clotting in over a week, just dark brown discharge (but I delivered vaginally with no tears, so I only had minimal healing to do). I don't know if there's anything to really be worried about - everyone is different - but I'd at least want to call and see what the OB says.

  • I think I stopped passing clots at about 1 month pp and bleeding stopped entirely at about 10 weeks pp. If you're worried I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to call. Good luck!

  • I passed a pretty big clot 5 wks pp just when I thought my bleeding was slowing down! Ditto PP; call the doc if you're concerned. GL!

  • I passed a big gross clot at 8w pp and my bleeding finally went away after. My doc wasn't concerned since the bleeding went down and I wasn't feverish or anything. Call if concerned, but don't be too worried quite yet.

  • I hemorrhaged at 15 days pp, and the doctors thought it was unusual for someone to hemorrhage that far out past delivery, which makes me think that it should be really unusual at 1 month pp. In my experience, it was very clear that something was wrong. The guidelines they gave me were to call if I passed anything larger than a golf ball, or if I started going through more than 2 pads in one hour. It's good that you're not bleeding heavily and odds are you're fine, but like PPs have said, it wouldn't hurt to call.
