So...you know how when you go to the zoo, you see monkeys picking at each others butts? And these monkeys always have a red as*....well....
DD's butt is starting to look like one of those red monkey butts. I've tried oatmeal baths, triple paste/wash, and we put diaper rash cream on after every diaper change. I let her sit naked for an hour tonight, but it's still really red in her butt.
It doesn't seem to bother her a bit, but I felt like a crappy mom when our daycare provider pointed it out again today. Any tips that I haven't thought of yet to relieve some of the redness?
FYI...it's not a blotchy diaper rash. This just looks like red, irritated skin.

Thanks ladies for the tips. I didn't know there actually was a cream called anti-monkey butt. Funny!
We spent a lot of "naked" time last night and it helped a little...but we have a ways to go. I think I'm going to stop and get some new ointment tonight. We had been using Desitin but obviously it isn't doing the trick.
Poor little baby bum! Desitin did not work well for us, and it is hard to wipe off so I think that irritates the skin more. When DS gets a bad diaper rash we use Viva paper towels (really, really soft) with warm water, dry his butt with a clean cloth diaper, blow on it a bit and then re-apply Butt Paste - the one in the red tube. It works great. We put Butt Paste on him every night before bed to protect his bum during the long stretch of sleep.
Good luck, I hope it clears up soon!
