Similac advance to soy...anyone else?

anyone else use their regular formula and then switch to soy for milk allergy reasons? or any reason at all?

we seemed to do ok with the advance but had some gas here and there. last week he started having mucus in his diaper and it had a pink tinge to it at times. then it faded a little and he had a diaper rash with some very tiny open sores so we contributed the pink tinge to that (as did the dr. office) and his rash cleared up with a prescription ointment and then he had the mucus again and it was more bloody looking. turns out it was a milk allergy....

anyway, dr put him on the soy now. he has only had 2-3 dirty diapers since then which was monday. he was having about 8-10 a day. i figure he was going so much now cause of the allergy but i'm worried that from so much to so little (has had one yet today. not since yesterday) could mean he's becoming constipated.

anyone else have this issue when they switched?

Re: Similac advance to soy...anyone else?

  • Our dr switched my little guy to soy due to reflux issues and unfortunately it did constipate him. It started with him having fewer dirty diapers and then we got to a point where it would get stuck and we would have to move it in order for him to finish going, so we had to switch his formula again.
