Beta #2

Beta #2 is up to 3367. Definitely not as high as I had hoped (= doubling time of 72 hours). But, the nurse seemed totally fine about it and said that they want a doubling within 2-3 days and my number is good. Of course, I'm nervous...but, trying hard to squash that with positive thinking (it doesn't help that the AF-like cramping/discomfort that I had last week and through the weekend hasn't happened much in the past two days).

I go back in on Monday for more b/w and, very fortunately, an ultrasound (really didn't think I'd be having one so soon, but apparently it's standard at around 5 weeks at this clinic).

I'm sorry the doubling time wasn't better, but glad it went up. Many T&P that everything is ok and the embies are just taking their sweet time snuggling in.

My clinic says they like it to go up by 50% 2 days after initial beta... yours did that... so I would try not to worry! (coming from someone who is in a constant state of panic)! Congrats and I know this is it for you! Huge Hugs!

So jealous you get a 5 week u/s... I have to wait till 2/25... 12 more days... ugh

Great numbers!!! My understanding is once your beta is so high it tends to slow down. I'm not sure if it applies to a first beta or not. However, your numbers are rocking!!!

GL with you 5 days waiting. I can't wait to hear/read about your u/s!!!

I think the beta number is great! Your first beta was drawn later than sometimes usual. Congratulations - good news also about the u/s just around the corner!

I know it's really hard not to worry but your numbers look good and high. I'm really happy for you and hope you are able to get some good news.

And from everything I've read, cramping and discomfort is a great sign that your uterus is stretching around as your baby is snuggling in. Rooting for you, girl!

Remember doubling time slows from the 48-72 hour rule after you hit about 1200... so you are definitely good!

Good luck at your u/s... don't expect to see much more than a little black circle. Looking this early is more to confirm placement (ie not ectopic)

Thanks for all the good wishes and, very importantly for me right now, the reassurance! I'm pretty certain that, if this was someone else's second beta increase (especially when dealing with such high levels), I'd think there was nothing to worry about and that she was totally in a good place!

As for Monday's u/s, definitely not expecting to see much of anything (was really surprised that they're even having me in this early) -- just hoping the placement is good and VERY curious to see how many are in there (although I know that could also change by the following week).

I'm glad to have a buddy to be a crazy worrier with me! Yeah, my u/s is ultra-early and yours is ultra-late (at least, seems to me). I hope that the next 12 days fly by for you...and that we both get great news at our appointments.

We can talk each off the ledge when the worrying gets too bad! I'll be exactly 7 weeks when I have my u/s. At that point a HB will definitely be detected. I almost want to call and ask for another beta... just so I know things are going in the right direction. I honestly believe I am suffering from PTSD from my 2 previous losses.
