Stroller Question

Ok...this is probably a really stupid question.

Originally we got the Chicco Keyfit 30 travel system. However, I don't really want to click the carseat onto the stroller and take the whole shebang just to go for a walk at the park.  I do plan on wearing baby as much as I can but I ventured out to the coffee shop with my mom the other day and I realized that I have a ways to go on my C-section recovery.

SO, my question is can you put a newborn in the regular stroller.  (Stupid I know, but hey I'm a new mom.)  Would I just recline it all the way so she was laying flat?  It doesn't seem like there's enough support for her to "sit up" in it.)  I'm debating on just buying the carseat caddy and using that as my stroller until she outgrows it.

Re: Stroller Question

  • Good question, i'm not sure I haven't used my stroller yet. I would imagine that would work, maybe put a neck support in there and lots of blankets?

  • I know lugging the travel system seams like a PITA, but just snapping the carseat in is really NBD.

I think it's easier than putting baby in the seat IF your already in the car. If not, then I'm sure you could find something supportive such as blankets to help her.
  • Each stroller manual should have guidelines based on age or size. I believe that you can use most of them if they fully recline, but they shouldn't be sitting up (even snuggly strapped in) until they are older and sitting on their own. I believe that I started sitting DS1 up in the stroller (and also using an umbrella stroller) closer to 4-5 months.

  • Read the owners manual, newborns need to be tight in there and supported properly. DS cannot go directly into our BOB stroller for a few months yet...so we purchased the car seat adapter so we can still use it with our car seat.

  • I just took DD for a walk in our stroller. I reclined it all the way and strapped her in. She'll be 5 weeks tomorrow.

  • We have a City Mini GT and take DD on walks in just the stroller. We recline it flat. We have a car seat adaptor but hate it so stopped using it when she was about 4 weeks old.
