Hi. For the past 11 months, I've been using a laundry detergent that is free of dyes and perfumes. This past weekend I switched back to my favorite detergent that has softener as well as fragrance in it. LO has not had a reaction to my using it so far this week, and I will continue to be on the lookout.
It does make our clothes feel softer. (I was noticing that LO's jeans were hard to the touch when using the other detergent.)
Are there any reasons that I should not be using this detergent on LO's clothes, if he doesn't have a reaction? For some reason I feel a little nervous or guilty about making this switch.

I would think as long as your LO doesn't have a reaction, you'd be fine. I think the free and clear concern is more for when they're little tiny newborns and they're super sensitive. By now, you probably know if your LO has particularly sensitive skin, and if he doesn't, you should be fine.
I have very sensitive skin so I have always used free & clear detergent and will continue to do so, but more for me than for him lol!
Dye and perfume should not affect the softness of your clothes. Try adding baking soda to your wash. It helps soften things. Or vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. Same thing.

Okay! I'll definitely give it a try! I use baking soda and warm water to clean LO's toys already, and it does clean them well! Hopefully it'll help soften clothes as well. Thanks!
We had really hard water at our last place. DH's socks would come out crunchy. The baking soda kept that from happening. I would dissolve it in first, about half a cup, but you can also just sprinkle it in on top of the clothes too. That is what I do with DD's diapers.
