Potty Training

Is anyone in here potty training or thinking about potty training soon? I think Olive may be ready but I don't want to push her if she's not.

She recognizes when she goes. She immediately takes her pants off and will try putting a new diaper on or come tell you. She really hates wearing diapers. She's starting to point at the potty and will sit on it with her clothes on. She's also staying dry for longer time periods. You can tell when she has to go potty too.

I know people do potty train at 18 months, but I wouldn't personally do if.

You could set training potties everywhere in your house and let her go naked and see what happens.

The reason I wouldn't potty train now is the likelihood of going completely back into diapers when a new sibling is born is pretty high. Then again, if she's ready, she's ready.

Sounds to me like it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. Maybe let her run around the house naked and see what happens?

Not ready in this house. All he does is stand in his Elmo potty.

Ellie nothing worked it was till she was 3 and I told her enough was enough it was time to use the potty and bam she okay and started using it. Ellie was stubborn mostly because of Charlotte. I was thinking about just setting the little potty in the living room and just seeing what happens.

Haven't even thought about it.. No signs here. I'm not going to push it, when he's ready he will be ready

We bought a potty about 3 weeks ago, just to see how P would react. 

No way. 

She thought the "cup" that you take out and wash was a snack cup. 

FAIL.

We have not.  DD has just started telling us when she has "stinky" (poop diaper) about 75% of the time.  I'm happy with this!  As of now, I am not planning to attempt any training until a couple months after the new baby is here.

Hank was already PT'ing when he was Otis' age.  Hank was also already in a toddler bed.  O is not nearly ready for either.  He's a maniac in his sleep, and he totally thinks like Penelope does -- it's a snack cup or a hat.  

We'll keep trying relatively casually until 20 months.  Then, it's time to get serious.  He'll be PT'd by 2.

Also, as for the sibling birth and regression, it's not a guarantee.  We never experienced it, nor did my neighbor whose daughter was 2.5 when her second daughter was born last August.  So, FWIW, I wouldn't count her out just because some will tell you about a regression.

I let dd run around pants less sometimes. She'll pee on the potty every once in awhile and on the floor a lot more. I plan to try the three day method at  20 mos.

Girls are faster then boys, boys usually take to age three, says the urologist I see for DD. Also pushing backfires so let her go when she wants, asks. Also suggested to us was to show them people poop in bathroom, so when DS knows to poop he can stand in bathroom to go. A step in right direction and also keep potties in bathroom, not elsewhere in house as people only go to bathroom in a bathroom not their living room.

Also use a kid potty or have a stool that they feet reach on big potty to reduce stress in muscles used for bathroom behaviors. Strain can cause adverse issues for BM.

We have a potty in the bathroom but I'm not pushing him to use it. He likes to sit on it and when I say, let's go potty, he will run in and sit on it (naked or clothed). He doesn't go potty yet while on it, he just thinks it's fun to sit on it.  That's all I'm concerned with right now. I don't mind the diapers and I don't want to push it
