Hi everyone! My name is Katie, my son is Eli, and we are working on going green to help save our family some money on top of being better to the environment. I just switched to CD and we are currently using ecos, but I was wondering if any of you make your own detergent or powder? Do you think it would be cheaper than buying ecos? And could I use it on my cloth dipes? I'm also asking about this on the CD board, I just thought some varying perspectives might be good! TIA
Re: intro and CD question
I use Soap Nuts from Green Virgin Products. They are hypoallergenic. I use natural fibers when it comes to my cloth diapering (no synthetic pocket dipes here!) and have had great results while using the soap nuts! I also use them on our regular laundry. The cost savings have been incredible... I put in about two orders a year and get the 21 kilo bag and it lasts me forever! I do have a bit of a problem in that I gift sample bags of soap nuts to people, so my supply takes a hit sometimes
I also use OxyBoost oxygen bleach to keep my diapers stink free and stain free. It is really good for removing stains from a lot of things.
I am a bit interested in checking out the Thieves oil from Young Living as some people use it to keep their diapers stink free. I have several of their essential oils and have really been pleased with them.
Okay so i ave soap nuts to try, but do you make liquid out of them or do you just use the nuts?
Also, I used to use thieves on myself and it smells wonderful!
