We do the same thing. The batteries are broken and we don't have any more. Now my DS1 who is almost four knows where we keep the extra and says, "mommy you have lots of batteries in the cabinet. or he tells us to go buy more!

Dd is scared of any toys that make noise. My mother thought this was a bogus fear and put batteries in all of her toys. By the time nana hit a button a second time she realized that dd really didn't like the noise and that adding batteries was a bad idea. On the positive side nothing sings in our house and I have enough batteries come hurricane season to power the neighborhood.

C likes to press the button to make certain toys play music to dance to. Except he doesn't let each song finish so its just a jumble of electronic garbage.
