I'm going to be flying twice in the next few months. I want to bring the carseat on the plane for her to sit in. Other than the GoGo kids, how do you get the carseat to and from the airplane? I was thinking of getting a luggage cart. I'm going to gate check the stroller so she can ride in it. She has special needs and can't walk far, but is too heavy to ride in the seat in the go go kids. Can anyone recommend a luggage cart or have any other ideas? Thanks!!
Re: Airplanes/airports and carseat
If you are going to be using a rolling carry on, you can use this:

I also read in one of the reviews that someone used a metal ring from the hardware store and did the same thing.
Or this:

You will look like you're carrying a cello through the airport, and you'll probably have to take the seat out while going through security, but it's actually really easy to carry around once you're wearing it. If I were you and LO has a hard time walking, I'd bring a small umbrella stroller to push her around the airport and gate-check it and wear the car seat on your back. If you have someone travelling with you who can pull a rolling bag while you push LO in a stroller, then the item above might be less bulky. Good luck!
This is what I do. It's so easy and keeps her contained the whole time. You can strap your child in it and then strap it to the suitcase so there is no trying to keep a toddler by your side while you attach it to the suitcase.
If you would like I can take a picture of mine attached to the suitcase so you can see what it looks like. We use caribeners and sometimes a large rubber ring or a metal ring, depending on the suitcase. This eliminates me having to bring a stroller. I usually just have the rolling suitcase, a backpack, and the carseat.
We use this. It works out great. Of course, it doesn't fit down the aisle of the plane so you have to carry it over the seats on the plane. Its a pain. If I am traveling alone, I get a flight attendant to help. Oh, and make sure to get on the plane ASAP. We waited too long one time, and had to check our rolling suitcase and had to carry the dang seat through the airport when we got to our destination. I was so ticked off at DH (he is ALWAYS late!).
We're tried just about everything:
Gogo Babyz cart - My favorite if you want to bring the carseat on board. Have you tried the "cruiser" version? It looks like it has a bigger wheel and supportive base. You'd probably have to gate check the cart, though.
C.A.R.E.S. strap - I actually prefer to not bring the car seat on board. Great for ages 2+. Easy to carry. Allows child to have the whole seat for play and much more flexibility in seating. This was designed with special needs in mind.
Strap to the luggage - HATED this. Not sure how people make it work. We could not get the car seat attached to our carry on luggage. The car seat was either too big/heavy or the bag was too small. It attached fine to our check-in luggage - but that doesn't get the seat to the gate. If she's too heavy for the Go-Go Baby, then I can't imagine that this would work for you.
ditto the CARES, I love ours!
just beware that a toddler in a carseat puts their legs at exactly the right length to kick the seat in front of them!!! NOT fun, believe me!
