Concealed penis?

Has anyone dealt with son who had what is referred to as a concealed or hidden penis ? During the pediatrician visit at the hospital they recommended that we see a urologist because his testicles hadn't descended and they wanted us to wait to do circumcision. Then when we went to uriologist he called it a concealed penis and wants us to wait 6 months before circumcision? He says if not we could end up having multiple procedures....

Re: Concealed penis?

  • DS has a concealed penis he's 8 days old and we are seeing a urologist next Wednesday. The hospital pedi seemed to think that the urologist would want to go ahead and pin back the loose skin then do the circ. I guess we'll see what they say.

  • Ok .... I hope things go well! Let me know how it goes ! Thanks so much !
  • I'm taking my son to the urologist Thursday. Apparently the doc did a crappy job on his circumcision and left some skin attached. DH knew something was up when we went in for a two week checkup and the doc had a strange look on his face and took a step back after taking his diaper off! So, since he didn't do it right the first time, we have to spend more money taking him to a urologist...not to mention how painful it will be for him!! Should I send the bill to the doc who performed the circumcision?
  • Mine has one now, although it was not at birth. My son has become quite pudgy, and his doc said his penis is simply sinking into the fat pad around it. When I change him, I pull it out and make sure it is covered with A&D before it sinks back in. My doc never said it's any kind of problem...

  • Hmm hmontty not too alarm you but I would look more into it. My uriologist gave us some reading material and I went on google . I read sometimes they can grow out of it , but often times they will need to have a procedure to correct, otherwise he may deal with problems as an adult. Although his penis will work correctly, he will deal with stress because of the cosmetic look to it...hope this helps....I know I want my son to have a normal healthy life when he is ready to date and stuff, so I'm really trying to stay up on this.
  • My ds couldn't get circumcised. He wasn't born with a lot of foreskin . The doctor said that he will probably grown into it. In 6 month we have to go back . I may end up looking as though it was circumcised .

  • I can never understand how mothers to brand new infants or to any child would have the desire to circumsise their babies!  Dont you know what happens during the surgery?  Its horrible.  Let your boys grow up and decide for themselves if they want it.  How would you feel if your parents decided to have you circumsised like they do to girls in Africa!  Its the same thing! Its terrible, its painful and shouldn't be done to anyone unless on the rare occassion its medicaly neccessary.   From what I have been informed the history of male circumsision was started by a jewish guy who didnt want young boys materbating so he started it saying that it was for cleanliness.  All these years later people still believe that! Teach your child how to pull it back and clean himself.  They call female circumsision unjust mutilation but with boys its just because....for looks? Because you dont know any different? Why on earth, it simply escapes me.

    End rant

Have you read the Old Testament lately?

Also if you think male and female circumcision, and the conditions under which each is  done, are even remotely comparable, then, well, you're dumb.

well, thanks, but like I said, this wasn't a congenital thing. He's just gotten fat. :) His circumcision went perfectly and his penis looks great. Doc said when he thins out, the penis will be normal.

I will bring it up at his 2 month, though.

  • To the person above who mentioned the Old Testament: The New Testament makes it perfectly clear that circumcision is not a religious requirement for Christians. There are a lot of great resources here, if you're willing to do a little research:

Also, circumcision of today is nothing like it was in the Bible. It used to just be a very small slit at the tip of the foreskin, just enough to draw a few drops of a blood (a "blood sacrifice"). You couldn't even tell the difference between circumcised or intact penises back then. It is a fairly new concept to actually amputate the entire prepuce organ (foreskin). Routine infant circumcision (RIC) in America cannot be compared to Biblical circumcision. They are two completely different procedures.

This is a very informative article about Biblical circumcision vs. RIC in America:

Also, I believe that one person's religion should end where another person's body begins. Taking a knife to a baby's genitals is an irreversible decision. A baby does not know what Christianity is. What if that baby chooses to practice a different religion (or none at all) when he grows up? A little water on his head (baptism) isn't going to make a difference when that baby becomes a man. He may very well resent losing an important part of his penis, however. (The prepuce organ is not just "extra skin").
