Chin Rash Remedies???? :(

I have a 20 month old baby boy who's had a rash under his chin and a little down his neck for a few months now. The doctor said its due to drooling at night. I tried Aquaphor which seemed to make it worse, so recently we've just been keeping it clean and applying some caldascene powder at night. Seems its gotten way better since we 1st noticed but its still there and seems like it gets itchy for him once in a while.  Anyone had a similar issue with their kiddos and tried something that really worked well?? Thanks!!

Re: Chin Rash Remedies???? :(

  • DD had one when she was little that turned out to be a yeast rash.  We got an rx cream, but I've also used Lotrimin on yeast with success.

Once it's cleared up, I'd keep up with the Aquaphor or something else to keep a barrier on there at night.

  • DS gets a rash on his cheeks from drooling through the night and at nap time. I put lotion on his face and then before nap and bedtime, I put Vaseline on his cheeks where he gets the rash. It creates a barrier from his drool.

  • I use the desitin clear multi-purpose. My daughter had the same thing going on and it stopped it after two days.

  • Our doctor recommended a cream called Moisturel.  It seemed to do a pretty good job.  I agree with pp's that it sounds like you need to create a barrier, and my go-to for all things skin-barrier is usually Aquaphor. But I see that didn't work for you.  Not sure if vasolene would help either - isn't that the same idea as Aquaphor?
