Lupron Inj. Question

Day 2 of Lupron. yesterday, it hurt a bit afterwards and i noticed a small "bubble" under skin at injection site. I rubbed gently in circular motion for a few minutes and it went away.  Today, i injected slower and got same thing.

Is this normal?  Am i doing something wrong? Im not a newbie with doing shots, so not sure why this is happening.

Re: Lupron Inj. Question

  • This may be a silly question but you're injecting the needle all the way in right? Like, you're not only putting half of it in the skin right?  Only reason I ask is because if you were doing that, it would seem a likely thing to happen to get a little bubble because you wouldn't be injecting it under all the top layers of the skin, it would only be under the very top most layer instead thereby probably causing a bubble. However, if the needle is all the way in then I guess its probably ok especially if the bubble goes away soon after. HTH!

  • I sorta had a similar thing happen.  It wasn't a bubble but just a little bump and went away 15 minutes later.  DH put the needle all the way in and injected.  I also felt a little bit of irritation (stinging).  When I started stims, DH did the lupron in my thigh- no problems there, no bump or irritation, just a little blood on occasion.

Yes, calling it a bump vs. a bubble also matches what is happening with me. Perhaps i'll try my thigh tomorrow.  They told me i could do my thigh or tummy, adn i have just always done my stomach because its easy.

Yes, im putting needle all the way in.

    Thx!

  • I've had the bump happen a few times. I just rub and after a few min. it goes away. (My needle is going in all the way). I don't think it effected anything since I was suppressed. Tonight will be my last injection of Lupron, and I've been doing it since January 6th.

Not really related to my original post, but why have you been on it for so long?

  • I've had that happen but I think the time it happened I put the needle in diagonally vs straight in and it left the bubble on my skin.  As long as your body absorbs it you're fine.  Does it hurt after the first 2 minutes?

I started in Jan. 6th to suppress for my FET that was originally supposed to happen last week. I had a cyst so they had to push it back a week, FET is tomorrow.

  • Please take this with a grain of salt since I'm nothing even remotely approaching a medical professional, but from what I've read, the subcutaneous injections are supposed to absorb through the fat. So I don't think it's an issue as long as you're getting through the skin to that fat later.

Might be worth bringing up to a nurse the next time you see one, though. Just in case I'm all full of beans.
