I am curious what the symptoms are for your dc's reflux? I'm thinking of switching ds formula to a more gentle one. We use Sam's brand equivalent to Similac Advance right now. The only reason I'm suspecting he may have something like this is because we have problems at night. His feedings are very dramatic, arching back, etc. He isn't a real spitty baby but he has alot of the regurgitating sound and makes that face like it hurts. He has also been sleeping terrible at night the last few weeks (he's 8 weeks today). Anytime he sleeps during the day is usually in his bouncy so he is more upright. Also, he can fall asleep on me at night but about 20 minutes after putting him down, he is back up. Right now he is in a bassinet but I thought about possibly elevating the crib. I'm willing to try anything that will make him sleep better! There are only three times he has slept 4 or 5 hour stretches and I feel like I can't handle this up every hour thing. He feeds every 3-4 hours, 3-5 oz. Thanks for any advice!!
Re: Reflux moms .. symptoms?
That sounds like it to me. We have to keep him upright for 30 minutes after he's done eating so it's all digested. I really can't help you with the sleep issue though. We're going to the pedi today to find out about colic.
When the dr. diagnosed him with colic, (I bf) she said to avoid caffine and dairy. Maybe you could try a soy formula??
Both of my preemie girls have reflux, but totally different symptoms.
Natalie will arch her back and scream like a banshee for about a minute after feedings. She also spits up and can projectile vomit like a champ (don't believe me? Look at my blog for a pic).
Audrey grunts and makes faces like she doesn't feel well, and then makes a choking noise. She never throws up or spits up, but she foams a little at the mouth and smells like vomit. My doc says she swallows it back down.
They are both on Zantac and it seems to work for them. They are also off the preemie formula which was harder on their tummies. As far as sleeping goes, I purchased a wedge that fits under the sheet to elevate their heads. I think it was $15 at BRU. They would NOT sleep in their cribs until I bought these lifesavers.
