Allergy-related throw up?

Ds was covered in clear vomit last night and was throwing up more of it this morning.  He has been sneezing like crazy and has a runny nose, so I am thinking this is connected.  I have the vaporizer running and am going easy with food/drink for the stomach.  I don't think this is doctor worthy yet.  Plus, I am fairly sure they will have us ride it out.  Now, i know we aren't doctors but any previous experience is appreciated.  Any advice on how to treat his symptoms since there isn't meds I can give him?  Thanks.

Re: Allergy-related throw up?

  • Prop him up when he sleeps. Try to elevate the mattress by his head by putting books or a wedge underneath. This will help the sinus's drain right. I know when I get allergies I hate lying down to sleep. I either get congested and cough and sometimes throw up. Kids usually don't know how to blow their nose well and it has to go somewhere and it's usually the stomach or lungs. My son has severe allergies and we use children's benadryl on doctor's direction. I don't know if you want to go there without your Dr. okaying it. I hope he feels better.

  • Thanks for the advice.  I have him propped up on a pillow, napping.  He just seems pooped.  I didn't think about Benadryl.  I do have some from another time he was sick.  What dose do you do?  Poor kid sounds awful so a little for some relief is ok.

  • Is he swallowing too much snot/drainage and then throwing that up? I know that I get nauseous when I've got a lot of drainage when I'm sick.
