I want to say Johanna because its my DDs name. I think it's such a pretty name. However, based on your comment about DH insisting in the H, I think it's a different name than my DD. Will you say it just like Joanna? In my DDs name, you pronounce the H so it's Joe Hannah. In any event, I do like just Joanna too!
Both are nice. The only issue I have with Johanna is that people will pronounce it different ways. That would be annoying to me.
This WILL happen... just to forewarn the original poster. My daughter is Johanna and we pronounce it "Joe-Hannah". But it gets pronounced "Joe-Anna" and even more often "Joe-Hah-Na", and sometimes even "Yo-Hah-Na". I love the name any way, lol. I think they are all so pretty! But for my next child, I want to pick a mispronunciation-proof name because of this.
Wow! I really was not expecting such a great response!
Anytime DH has said the name, I haven't heard the "h" in Johanna. Maybe I'm not listening properly [;P] But he did insist on the "h" in the spelling. I'm good with either pronunciation, though.
With Anne being the middle name for Melanie, it was in honor of my older sister. My DD got my eldest sister's middle name, so I thought it'd be nice to pass the other along too. But it clearly does not go with Johanna- ha! The thought of Johanna Anne makes me giggle.
DH will be delighted that he wins! It wasn't much of a battle, though

If he wants to spell it with the h it really should be pronounced like Joe Hannah. Otherwise it's just Joanna which isn't as nice a name in my opinion. To me the Joanna pronunciation is so plain and boring compared to the Johanna pronunciation. Sorry! Lol tell your Dh this!

I guess I'm the only one. I like Melanie Anne much better than Johanna Renee. I don't like the name Johanna.
I don't find Melanie dated.
LOVE Johanna Renee
What is beautiful and different name. Wow. Love it.

Another vote for Johanna Renee.
