Progesterone....is it necessary??

This is my first medicated cycle...Femara, Dexamethasone, Trigger shot, Metformin and Progesterone.....we're doing TI.

My RE prescribed Progesterone suppositories for me to start at 4DPO.  My insurance company called a little bit ago and said they couldn't approve the prescription (I didn't understand the reason), and they would call the RE tomorrow to discuss the issue.  They informed me that the medication wouldn't reach me by the time I needed to start it, so I'm hoping I don't really need it.

My question is this....how does my dr. even know that I need this medication??  I'm scheduled for 7DPO bloodwork next week, (which measures progesterone levels, right??). 

From what I've read short luteal phases and spotting before AF are signs of low progesterone.  I consistently have 16 day LP and NEVER EVER spot before AF comes. 

Do your girls' RE's prescribe Progesterone regardless of your levels?

Yes, my RE has had me on them with each medicated cycle. It has been proven that low prog can allow your lining to release even if you get pg.  Therefor it is used each cycle just in case. My nurse said that you can't really get too much progesterone. I take one in the mornings and after my transfer I was told to do 2 more that day.  I think they can't test your prog in time if it is too low. Also, my RE has mentioned that once you start taking all the different hormones that your body can change so the drs are controlling each aspect.  GL!!

hope you can get it, if not you should see if your RE can give you some.

If you are low during the first 7 dpo, and they find out on day 7, the horse is kind of out of the barn...

 I never thought I had a luteal phase issue, either, but my RE did some monitoring and determined that I did need supplementation.

My RE prescribed it 2x a day starting at 4dpo after our first IUI. I agree completely with what the other ladies have said. It can only help and be a good thing, so you might as well take it!
