Babies on the Brain

Help me :)

H and I have been using condoms....I have BOTB and he (unfortunately) does not.  I O'd 1 week ago and, while we did put a condom on before he ejaculated, we didn't have one on beforehand.  How high of a chance is it that I could get pregnant off of pre-***?  I would love a baby right now...but I'm not sure how he would take it.  I just need advice!  TIA

  • We aren't TTC.  Just asking a question.

  • Large enough that we tell teens not to do it, but small enough to not be worth any lack-of-sleep. The biggest factor is if he ''got-off'' within the last 24 hours prior to the incident in question.
"What are you having?" "Well the radiologist says its a healthy little human baby. I'm a little disappointed, because I really wanted a puppy." LOL
  • It's impossible to answer this, but if you are not TTC, I would be more pro-actively cautious next time.  It does not sound like your DH is ready.

  • If he did, there would be a smaller chance, right?

  • I have told DH many times that there is a possibility of getting pregnant with pre-cvm.  But he doesn't think there is..but I've read many places that there is a small chance.  I just wanted to get some input.

  • Either way, I'll find out Friday...that is when AF is expected to come.

    Yes, there is a chance.

  • Yes, there's a chance.  My doctor gave me a chart that showed by using a condom that way, there's a 20% chance of getting pregnant.  By using it properly (the whole time), then it goes down to something like 2%.

H and I use it the way that you did the other day, and have been for the past 3 months. No pregnancy here yet.  But we've also had a long discussion about doing it this way, and he is on board if it happens.  We both want to TTC, but would prefer to be married a year before being pregnant.

If your H would freak out about a pregnancy right now, then you take control and grab the condom and tell him that he's wearing it. He needs to be 100% on board first.

20 percent seems kind of high considering the average couple has a 20 percent chance of conception with no condom usage at all.

  • I know the condom companies claim that they are 98% effective or whatever, but research shows that they are really only 85% effective even when used properly. That's 1 in 6 odds! I read that in a BCP pamphlet, and I learned it in a Developmental Psychology class in college.

That was where I got the information on 20% chance.  It was in the pamphlet or my diaphragm, and my Dr was showing me the chances between that and condoms.

  • Before he goes in, he needs to have a condom on. Without that, if you get pg, he is partially "to blame". There are sperm in pre-e.

  • I'm pregnant with a pull out baby and I know 2 other people who are as well.  Use the condom from the very beginning.
