3rd Trimester

increased movement in late pregnancy?

Did anyone notice increased movement the farther you got? I'm just about 34 weeks and everyone keeps telling me I will feel less movement as LO runs out of room, but I swear the last week or so, it feels like she moves all day! I know movement is a good sign, but I don't think she ever sleeps! LOL And I've definitely noticed an increase in the frequency of hiccups. :)

Re: increased movement in late pregnancy?

  • My boys were/are both pretty energetic in the womb!  Even after DS1 engaged he would still squirm his body side to side.  I'm in the 37th week with DS2 and he's not slowing down either.  My friend saw him moving from across the living room yesterday.  While they may not be able to move as far, they may still move as often as ever!

  • For me, movement increased right up until the day I hit 37 weeks. Its not that he is moving less, the movements just feel more constricted because of the lack of room.

  • I'm 31 weeks and she has been very active from the start.  While she hasn't slowed down at all, the movements have changed which I think is what they mean when they say baby will move less.

She used to all out drop kick and punch me, bam bam bam.  Now it's more belly pushing movements and dragging her elbows along my belly.  My husband can see her from across the room at times and I can sit and watch my belly change shape over and over in a short period of time.

  • I didn't feel him a ton from the start.  He had his times of day where I'd get some movement, but mostly, he was pretty relaxed.  Either I didn't feel how much he was moving before, or his activity level definitely amped up around week 34, except for the last two days, but with about a week to go, I can't imagine it's easy to move in there.  Now the movements are much more pronounced... it feels like he likes to use my ribs to push off to wherever it is that he wants to go at the time.  :)

  • Here I am at wk 39 tomorrow and LO is still quite active. I do notice a sleeping pattern for her and when she's awake, she gives all she's got!!

  • 100%.  I'm just over 34 weeks, and baby has gone from a calm cool collected passenger to extremely active- to the point where it hurts!

  • LO has been extremely active since around 20 weeks, and the farther along I get the more active it seems. I may just notice it more because he is out of room, but now it's painful. He's head down and low, and he will stretch out by pushing against the inside of my pelvis causing one of my legs to go numb- then his little rump pushes out against my side and he stretches his legs out to the other side like a giant 'L'. I've even started applying light pressure back against him to relieve some of the pain... Like you said- I know movement is a good thing but man, it stops me dead in my tracks, all day, every day. I keep telling DH to get ready for an active little boy (as opposed to our calm/collected DD)...

  • I felt the most movement from 28-34 weeks.  It was like she was doing bicycle kicks in there all day (and night) long.  For the past few weeks, the amount of movement has been the same, but it's just not as forceful.  Now I feel like she's kind of just rolling around.

  • I didn't notice an increase per se, I just noticed that now movements tend to get downright painful. I am so over the headbutts to my cervix :X

  • My dd definitely did not get that memo.  She is all over the place.  If it wasn't for the u/s I would swear she had 20 arms and legs

  • I have an anterior placenta so I noticed an increase in movement once he got bigger and could power around it which happened around 32 weeks.
