Babies on the Brain

I'm new here...

Hey girls-

I just got married in May 2012 and I'm a regular poster on the May 2012 board on the TN. When we first got married, I had crazy baby fever, but then I got a job working in day care. Since then, my baby fever cooled down quite a bit and TTC never even crossed my mind for about 5 months. H and I had said that realistically we couldn't TTC until probably two years after we got married, and initially that felt like torture. I think working in day care (mostly school age, so 5-11 years old) just kind of gave me that "fix" that I needed so I wasn't thinking about it all the time, but lately, my baby fever is slowly coming back. I'm starting to fantasize about taking care of my own children, instead of everyone else's. I just started a new BCP about 3 months ago, and I'm honestly ok with still waiting maybe a year (but I might want to start sooner) until we actually TTC, but I couldn't resist meeting you ladies on the BOTB board.  Hope to see you around!

  • I've always wondered, is it helpful/informative to chart/temp while on hormonal BC? I always assumed that if it stops ovulation, then the temps wouldn't be natural, and therefore useless data.

And this is what I told my Nestie friends: I posted on BOTB because that's what it is right now, I have "babies on the brain," not in the "works" (which is why I'm not on the TTC board). I think H and I will be ready to TTC probably in a year, but I'm definitely considering starting a family, more in a practical sense than in a fantasy sense like where I was just before and immediately after our wedding.

  • Welcome! I wouldn't bother temping while on BC, your cycles will likely change when you come off. Many people come off hormonal BC a few months before ttc and use that time to start charting while their body regulates (you will have to use condoms). It would be worth your time now to read up on fertility and cycles.
