Using pull ups at naptime

When did you stop this? My LO's are completley pee trained during the day but wear pull ups for naps and bedtime. At what point did you stop using them with your LO's. They sometime will wake up dry from nap but its not constant at all. I even have them pee before nap. They have  been pee trained since July and August and pooping is still a work in progress sometimes they go in there pull up at nap sometimes on the potty. Again, not consistant. Any insight or do I just need to wait until they are ready which I am fine with. My goal was pee trained by there 3rd bday which they did well now onto pooping consistantly!

Re: Using pull ups at naptime

  • Honestly I'd just wait until they are ready

my dd doesn't wear a pull up at nap time anymore (after about 6 weeks of training) - but that's because she was always waking up dry if she went potty before nap

bedtime though she wakes up wet off & on, so still wears a night time diaper to bed

I'm just going to keep doing that until she grows out of it

I've ready their bodies just need to be ready and able to hold while sleeping, which sometimes takes a number of years :)

  • DD1 is still wear a diaper for naps and bed, and she has been fully day time potty trained for about 6-7 months now. She still wakes up wet about 95% of the time, so I know her body just isn't ready to stay dry while she's asleep yet. Once she is consistently waking up dry we'll be done with diapers/pull ups, but I don't anticipate that happening for a while yet.

  • DD still wears pulls up at naps and night. She has been potty trained since before 2.5. Some days she wakes up dry at nap but always soaks her diaper at night.

Some kids are just very very deep sleepers. I have tried waking her up at night and she won't wake up. I have even changed her pull up with cold wipes and she sleeps through the whole thing!

I am just waiting until she outgrows it on her own.

  • DD wears one at nap and bed, and she will continue to until she wakes up dry consistently. It doesn't cause regression for her during the day, and I see no need for extra laundry if it isn't necessary. She doesn't usually need it for nap, but if she sleeps more than an hour she wakes up wet or running to the potty.

  • DS turned 3 in January and he still wears pull ups at night and at naps. I may start training him in the spring but haven't decided.
  • I'm a big fan of letting DDs tell me when they are ready to do something. I hear of people doing the three day PT, and it working before even age two. DD1 wasn't having any of that. When she told me she didn't want to wear her "piper" any more during the day, we worked on potty training (that was in late December). She was fully day trained in a week. We kept her in pull ups at night for several weeks, mainly because DH was scared of ruining her mattress. When she told me she didn't want to wear her piper anymore at night (because "they are for babies," like her sister), I let her go without. The mattress and DH would have to deal. I did cut down on her liquids before bed, but so far in over two months, she has had one night accident. And if she has more, no biggie, we bought a mattress cover. DD was a little upset because she thought I would be upset, but I made sure she understood it was no big deal and we changed the bed together, and she was fine.

  • They'll just start waking up dry from their naps one day. At least, that's what's happened for us. I had been putting a diaper on DD2 at nap time but realized she was waking up dry for over a week. We've gone to undies at nap time, and we've been fine.

Night time is completely different. It's not something you can train. DD1 was potty trained at 2.5 years and just started waking up dry at 6 years. It was like a magic switch. One day she was waking up soaking wet, and the next she was waking up in the middle of the night to pee or waking up dry in the morning. DD2 has random mornings that she wakes up dry (or nights that she wakes me up to take her potty at 2am), but she's not ready to give up the night time diaper.
