those who don't use shampoo

I've been using castile soap on my hair for about four weeks. My hair always feels really greasy and looks drab and dull. I read that this would happen for a few weeks when you stop using shampoo, but it is normal to still be doing it after a month? Is there anything I can do about it?

  • I'm not no'poo right now but when I first tried it, used baking soda and acv for a couple months and my hair was awful, greasy, full, you name it. Then I started to use liquid castille soap and coconut oil and rinse with acv my hair felt just fine, just like when using shampoo if not better. We are using TJ's tea tree shampoo right now but it's not cutting it.

Which form of castille soap are you using? I know it can take a while to get used to the baking soda but liquid castille soap for me had no difference from shampoo.

  • I'm using Dr. Bronner's castile soap, with lavender oil. I don't rinse with anything. Maybe if I rinse with acv it will help?

  • I am having to use yes to carrots. The other methods just weren't working for me. And I don't mind because I wash my hair once to twice a week so no big deal.

Both the baking soda and castile soap make my hair tangle. And I have the most tangle free hair in the world normally!! So that was no good for me.

  • I use JR Liggets Jojoba and peppermint shampoo bar.  I looked up the ingredients and it would have a score of 0 if it were listed on the cosmetic database.  I rinse with ACV.  My hair is soft and shiny washing every other day.

  • I have been using green beaver and love it.  Not sure if you can get it in the US, but "there's lead in your lipstick" listed it as one of the best hair products that is chemical free.

baking soda & acv worked terribly for me, I read it may have to do with living in a hard water state (we don't have a soft water filter). Interested in the Castile & coconut oil with acv rinse. Did it work right away, or did your hair go through an adjustment phase?
