C-sections

Pregnant after Csec, any discomfort?

Just wondering if anyone has post Csec pregnancy stories, particularly wondering about discomfort. Like, was there extra cramping or anything when you were pregnant second time around?

Re: Pregnant after Csec, any discomfort?

  • Yes, I have had some pain around my incision site, particulary when I am rolling over in bed. Yesterday I stood up and got the shooting, burning pain at my incision site. It didn't last long. The pain rolling over in bed isn't unbearable, but I told my dr about it and he said that was normal.

  • I haven't really had any extra discomfort, just occasional tenderness around my incision.

  • I'm 39 weeks with my post CS baby and other than some slight pulling early on in 2nd tri when my belly started growing I have had no pain or tenderness.

  • Yes -- totally normal.  I usually feel my c-sections even during my period and stuff.  Normal to feel some sensations/pulling/tugging even years later! So any changes due to pregnancy will do it, too.

  • I felt like my rlp was worse this time around. When I had my 2nd section my doctor said my abdomen was full of scar tissue from my first section. Maybe that's why the extra discomfort.

  • I felt minimal stretching/pulling around my incision
  • When I was pg, I had some sensitivity at my incision.  Also my incision would get quite itchy at times.

  • Early on in the pregnancy I had a lot more cramping and pain around my incision, but since 2nd trimester I'd say it's been the same.  I'm 28 weeks now.

  • Thanks for the replies ladies! Hubster and I are trying to decide when to have another and I was wondering about what to expect. DS is only 8 months so I know it will be mentally crazy if we decide sooner is better, just wondering about the physical consideration.
  • I could/can feel more stretching. It wasn't painful, but it was a different feeling for sure.

  • I honestly didn't notice anything until 36w when DD2 dropped. Then I could feel how the scar had to stretch to accommodate her suddenly being lower. At 38w I started getting awful stabbing pains around the incision (see post on VBAC board), but that turned out to be the start of a uterine rupture, so not considered normal post-c/s pregnancy pain by any means!

  • No, I haven't had any additional discomfort or pain. Both DDs were born via c/s.

This. I noticed more cramping this time around, but I don't know if that is because of the c/s or not though.
