How long does it take...

I was just wondering how old your LO is and how long it takes them to bf. When I feed my LO who is almost 2 months it most of the time takes 1 hour. When I feed him every uusually 2 sometimes 3 hours, that is a ton of time out of my day. I was just wondering if this was normal? I plan to talk to his pedi about it next week.

Is your LO actually swallowing that whole time? If you pull him off early, does he have milk in his mouth? Does he get sweaty or out of breath at all when he is eating? Do you pump at all - how is your supply?

10 maybe 15 mins tops every 2 to 4 hours, but my letdown is really fast. I can pump about 4 oz in that time on one size. It is a combo of how fast your let down is and how much of a quick eater your little one is. Mine also only eats on one side per feeding. She is 7 weeks old.

At her longest it takes around 40 minutes total. (She gets offered both sides). Some of that is her just pacifying.

My first was a slow eater and could take an hour total for both sides. My DD is super efficient. Maybe 20 minutes at a month old?

My kids were both speedy bf'ders. My DD especially ate fast. She could be done both sides in about 15 min or so. DS took a little longer sometimes but still not all that long, maybe 20 min or so.

Probably 15 minutes. Even at birth she didn't take more than 30. It sounds like your LO may be using you as a pacifier.

LO is only a week old, but he nurses for roughly 15-30 minutes in one session. When DS was nursed, he would nurse about the same time throughout.

Maybe he's not eating the entire time and using you as a pacifier? Or she's just eating really slow?

Almost a month old and he only takes about 10-15 minutes to empty one breast. He's very efficient and I have a fast letdown so that helps make for short feeding times.

Dang! All of these 20 minute response make me jealous! Sometimes she'll eat quick but she's hungry an hour later so I feel like she never really got full. She was just at the boob for an hour, probably spent 40 minutes eating, I laid her down to try and have her nap... 20 minutes later she's awake crying like she wants to eat again. I feel like I'm constantly feeding her, she's 6 weeks.
