Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Anyone with a 6 week old NOT sttn?

I am tired of people telling me "my baby STTN at 6 weeks" or "she slept 6 hours at 6 weeks, 7 hours at 7 weeks, etc".

Well, MY baby gets up 4 times a darn night still. That is just the way it is :(.

Need others in the same boat!

Re: Anyone with a 6 week old NOT sttn?

  • I don't know any baby who STTN at 6 weeks.  3 months, sure... but 6 weeks?

My 2 were getting up 2-3 times a night still.  They usually STTN now.

  • Mines 5 1/2 months old and doesn't STTN.  I've come to the conclusion that this is just the way it is going to be.  Some nights are better than others so we'll take the good and bad.
  • LOL at Vanilla--yeah---5+ monther who doesn't sleep through the night here--and several others on this board...it is normal!!
  • we were getting up three times a night, but since Saturday I have been putting him in his crib, with the miracle blanket, AND the baby crack machine...we have been getting 6-7 hours or sleep. GL
  • My first didn't STTN until she was about 5 months old. ?And while this one has been STTN for a while now, I know that's totally not the norm. ?Most of my friends' babies didn't STTN until closer to the 1-year mark (and one of my friends with an almost-2-year old STILL doesn't STTN). ?Don't worry, you're not alone! ?It's just not a lot of people brag about their child NOT STTN! ?
  • Nope and I am not rushing anything either. It will happen when she is ready.?
  • Far From it!  also up 2-4 times a night still.
  • I don't know anyone who had a baby sttn at 6 weeks.

My first didn't until 10 months.  She got up around 2am to nurse.

My 6 week old goes usually 4 hours then every 2 hours.

  • My DD went about a week where she slept for about 6 hours straight at night at like the six week period, but now that she is 4 months old she gets up a lot more at night than she did when she was 1-2 months. So it's not neccesarily something that will last for all those that are tell you that.

  • Mine don't. I try to put them in their cribs between 11-12 and they wake up every 3-4 hours.

    Me too!

My 5.5 month old doesn't STTN.
STTN at 6 weeks is certainly not the norm.  Either you are talking to a bunch of really really lucky parents, or they are not being completely truthful...whether on purpose or just forgetting how bad it truly was.

  • What were they giving them to STTN? Doesn't seem normal to sleep that long that early.

  • Nope, he's not sttn yet! We get a 4 or 4.5 hour stretch at the beginning, and then the rest of the night we're up 3 or 4 times. SUCKS!
  • My 3 month old still often gets up for a 4am feeding.  6 weeks?  These people are either freaks of nature or big fat liars!

  • Nope not here, mine take turns waking up every hour or so, so I am up pretty much ever 1-2 hours!

  • For some reason, this is the first question people usually seem to ask new parents and I hate it because of course my DS is NOT sleeping through the night, thank you very much and I don't really want to be reminded of that Stick out tongue I especially hate it when the person who asks only does so in order to tell me that their DC STTN pratically from the hospital (which might be the case but how many babies can there possibly be like this?! I know several people who maintain that it happened like that for them). Urgh, hehe.
  • ummm i'm not getting more than 3 hours in a row at 4 mos.

  • Lesson of the day, EVERY BABY is different.  The 6 hours 6 weeks is a myth and so you just need to be prepared to not STTN for a while.  Hang in there, it will get better.

  • My DD slept through the night at 6 weeks. And still does at 15 weeks.  From 9pm - 6:15am when I have to wake her

(Running and hiding form this post!  LOL)

  • HA!  I'd be happy with 3 straight hours at night, during the day i can get him to sleep if i'm holding him otherwise within 10 minutes of setting him down he is crying, i miss sleep so much
  • OMG I wish she was even sleeping half way through the night

  • DD is almost 4 months and still doesn't STTN.....
  • DS slept through the night at 11 weeks.  Certainly not 6.  I dont know anyone whose DC slept through the the night at 6 weeks.
  • I get long stretches of 5 hours most nights....But I'd probably freak out if he slept through the night!  He's up 1-2 times a night at least.  And it's sooo annoying when people ask me "So is he sleeping through the night yet"....UM no douche he's not, he is only just over a month!
  • Haha.  My little sweetie wakes up anywhere from 2 times to being wide awake ALL night :)

    Someday...  we plan to get sleep :}

  • I know few babies that STTn at 6 weeks.  But 4 times seems like a lot, too. Our son STTN (lactual STTN and none of that STTN=5 hours crap) at 3 months and I think that was early.
