Hi ladies!
I usually post on IF and Third Party Repro. Posted this yesterday and one of your fellow bumpies suggested I post it here as well. I should've thought of that! I hope you don't mind me "dropping by"
TIA!!
DIUI Ladies...
Hi everyone & happy Friday!!!
Well we have officially started our cycle for DIUI #1. Started Clomid yesterday and I go in next Sat for our first monitoring appointment. It seems there are quite a few of you with DE experience but I am hoping for any input on DIUI.
1. Did you get a BFP?
2. How many cycles did you do?
3. What Cryobank did you use?
4. Medicated or unmedicated cycles?
Just trying to pass some time and gain some hope! This is our last shot at achieving a pregnancy (RE said he'll give it up to 5 tries). I know I am getting ahead of myself but of course due to past disappointment I can't help but be afraid that this doesn't work! Our staff is hopeful but then again they were hopeful for our IVF...So just hoping for some info and success stories to keep me sane! TIA!!
TTC since June 2011

Re: XP from TPR: DIUI Ladies...
Best of luck to you!
1. Did you get a BFP? Yes
2. How many cycles did you do? 5
3. What Cryobank did you use? Columbus Cryobiology
4. Medicated or unmedicated cycles?
#1 - Clomid 50mg + Trigger (4 follicles) - BFN
#2 - Clomid 25mg + Trigger (2 follicles) - BFN
#3 - Clomid 25mg + Trigger (2 follicles) - BFN
#4 - Clomid 50 mg + Trigger (2 follicles) - BFP - m/c approx. 8 weeks
#5 - Clomid 50 mg + Trigger + Progesterone (2 follicles) - BFP - twin boys
Our Blog
1. Yes!
2. 5 (keep in mind that we're oldies-- my partner, who's carrying, was 38 when we started and is 39 now)
3. California Cryobank -- expensive, but worth it, imo. Our friends used a cheaper bank and weren't getting the same motility we were. Also, at California Cryobank they gather a LOT of info about donors and only something like 1% of prospective donors are accepted.
4. #1 Clomid; #2 & #3 Letrozole max dose for 10 days; #4 & 5 were hybrid cycles using Letrozole and Follistim (trigger shot). #4 was a BFP for us, but resulted in a missed miscarriage at around 9 weeks. #5 was a BFP and we're 17.5 weeks pregnant now.
I've read that 4-6 cycles are the average for getting a BFP with an IUI. My partner has PCOS and that slowed us down. Your doc probably won't want to put you on as much stuff as we used.
Good luck!
Glad you popped in as you wait for you next steps. We don't use the term "DIUI" so it took me a minute to figure out what you meant. I also don't think there are that many of us that have used donor eggs, but there are one or two. Here are my answers:
1. Yes!
2. 1 (although we tried a few about three years ago with bfns, I don't always count those since so much changed between that time and this).
3. California Cryobank -- I agree that it's more expensive, but worth it. They had our very specific donor criteria, have high standards, great customer service and I was really happy that since we bought 13 vials and I requested the highest count and motility they were happy send it first.
4. No meds during follicular phase, progesterone (Endometrin) during luteal phase and through the first tri. I just stopped as we're almost 14 weeks pregnant now.
I credit stress reduction, acupuncture, weight loss, healthy diet, having my hormones in check (including controlled hypothyroidism) and feeling really confident in my charting and insemination timing.
Best wishes!
We got a BFP from a DIUI on our first go around with IUI.
We used Cryogenic Laboratories and while on the cheaper side 450 per vial our sample was very high in counts.
We used clomid and trigger.
We now have happy and healthy fraternal 11 day old twin boys.
Best of luck!
06/12 - BFP!!!!
Beta #1 15dpo - 256
Beta #2 18dpo - 1097
6wk U/S on 07/02 ~ TWINS!!!
EDD 02/21/13
09/10/12 Found out it's two Boys!!!! Sam and Jake
Jacob and Samuel born 1/29/13 at 36 weeks.
1. Did you get a BFP? Yes
2. How many cycles did you do? 4
3. What Cryobank did you use? Xytex. I'm in the south and our RE's office limited us to 3 banks that are relatively close, so CA Cryo was not an option. Our donor motility was very good. It's also pretty expensive, but definitely worth it.
4. Medicated or unmedicated cycles?
1 unmedicated cycle with a trigger
2 cycles on Clomid, 2 follicles for one, one follicle for the second
1 cycle 5mg Femara 2 follicles, BFP with singleton

Hey there, glad you posted over here! Like I said on TPR, we used CA Cryo too, while we liked some of the smaller banks more, we just couldn't find the right donor. I think since we had to use an egg donor too, in which choice is so limited (we had 60 to choose from and probably half were instant 'no'), we felt like CA Cryo was a candy store with all the choice!
Also the packet they send after your bfp is nice and professional. Since we did ivf we only needed one vial so cost was as big a deal (again, after our egg donor this felt like a drop in the bucket cost wise).
Anyhow, I wanted to add though that I'm sorry you find yourself here, I can only imagine how hard it must be when your partner is male and had IF issues...for most of us here, it's a given to use DS (though it still is a 'third party' in the process). Take care and lots of luck to you!!!

Thanks for the insight and for your thoughtful words as well. Yes, the MFI thing has been incredibly hard. It took us some time to get here but now we are both in 100 percent. Like all of us, we just want to start a family! GL to you too!
