Re: Questions about what type of twins you're having
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
It looks like theyre mo/di
Anymore pics?

We knew at my first u/s at 10 weeks. They should be able to tell you by now and it's best to determine it in the first trimester but it can be determined as early as the first u/s. I'd request to see an MFM since they are really the experts if your OB can't determine it. I looked at your pic and it's tricky... They have an obvious membrane between them and I think I can see what's called a "twin peak sign" or Lambda sign on one side but it's not super distinct like some I've seen. However on the other side it looks more like a t-sign. Here's what I'm talking about: https://www.worldtttsawarenessday.org/pictures.php

I don't know what type of twins we are having, either. At our first two ultrasounds at 6 and 9 weeks you couldn't see the membrane separating the babies. Our doctor told us that sometimes it is hard to tell early on; sometimes you can tell right away and others not so much. She said the next best time to see if there is one or two membrane is between 16-20 weeks. So we have another ultrasound scheduled with an MFM at 18 weeks at the hospital, so it is a high tech machine. We are praying they at least see a thin membrane between the babies, so we aren't as high risk.
Here is our picture from our 9 week ultrasound:
I wonder if mine will have the same blood type and need to be tested.
I think it's so strange that so few ppl know about the possibility of di/di being ID. It's 25-30% chance from all of the stuff that ive read and ive read a ton!! lol.
It would be cool to have ID's and Not have the 'high risk' pregnancy issues
either way, we're all blessed!

I'm not 100% sure either, I just know that my boys are very clearly in two seperate sacs. There was a very thick membrane seperating them.
I keep seeing ya'll refer to MFM, but I have no idea what that stands for, or what one is. LOL. Can someone answer that quick question?
MFM is Maternal and Fetal Medicine. It's a branch of obstetrics that deals with high risk pregnancy. Technically the doctor is a perinatologist, but it's a lot shorter to type MFM. I would ask your ob if you will be referred to one at some point.
If your twins are in two distinct sacs then they are di/di, which is a lower risk pregnancy than mo/di or mo/mo.
Me too- we found out at 4 months they were identical even though they were di/di- people thought I was crazy for not knowing, but I needed to do a DNA test to be sure.
Thank you! My next appointment is next Tuesday, so I'll ask then. I've only got 5-8 weeks left to go (35 is the earliest they won't stop labor, and my OB won't let me go past 38 weeks) so I would assume they would have sent me to one already? But I'll bring it up and see what he says. Thanks!
