Parenting after a Loss

My hair is everywhere...

Really...EVERYWHERE. When is the shedding supposed to stop? I can clog the shower drain every time I shower. Please tell me I won't end up bald!

  • You won't end up bald!! With DS, I lost hair for about 2 months, with DD1, it was maybe 6 weeks worth of shedding. So far, with these two, I haven't started "losing my winter coat" yet! Good luck, eventually the shedding WILL stop!

  • You won't end up bald, though it does seem like it now, doesn't it?

For me it peaked at 3m and mellowed out around 5 or 6 months. The baby hairs that grew in after were their own special kind of awesome. The joys of motherhood, lol.

  • Girl, you are singing my story! I'm pretty sure I could have made several Barbie dolls with the amount of hair I've been losing. Every time I brush my hair I have to clean it out. We're finding it in the baby's clothes, my clothes, and DH's clothes (he likes to complain about how it manages to get in his boxers and then get wrapped around his manly bits...Oops?). I hear it stops....I'm just waiting!

  • It's crazy...I don't remember it being so bad with DS, but that was some time ago. Geez...I thought it should be over by now! Thank for the support though ladies. It's nice to know I'm not the only one .

  • I finally quit shedding when LO was about 6 months old.  You're almost there!  I have a ton of hair, so I didn't have any bald spots.  However, I often had to empty the hair catcher thingy (we have a mesh thing over the drain) in the shower twice while I showered to keep the water flowing down the drain.  It was insane.

  • I haven't hit this point yet, but other moms have suggested lengthening the number of days between washing your hair (if tolerable).  This seems to have helped them.  HTH!

  • DS is 5m. It's starting just a little tiny bit to lessen.
