Mirena and Hyperovulation?

I apologize in advance if this has already been asked but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I have been reading on a couple sites that getting pregnant right after IUD removal increases chances of fraternal twins since it causes you to hyper ovulate. I've also been hearing that there is absolutely no correlation. Does anyone here know any information about this? Just out of curiosity. TIA!!

Well I had mirena removed right before I got pregnant but my twins are identical. I have heard this as well but I don't know that it really does increase your chances of fraternal twins. My doctor said it would take 6wks or more to get pregnant in the first place but that wasn't the case. Sorry I know my post isn't really helping but this is my experience with mirena.

I had mine removed at the end of March. We waited a few cycles and started TTC 2 in mid July and conceived twins on the first try. We found out at our NT scan that we could have wound up with triplets. A third egg matured but didnt burst through. I don't know if the Mirena had anything to do with it or not. I have two cousins, my mom's cousins, not sure if it is their first or second or whatever, that are sisters that each conceived twin daughters, one set of identical and one set of fraternal. No other twins that I know of.

I have read this as well...fits in our case....conceived first month trying off birth control fraternal twins. Only distant relatives on mom's side have had twins.

There is a correlation due to the hormones from what I have heard. My cousin in law conceived fraternal twins first month off bcp with no family history. Her ob told her it was likely from the bcp.?

We were ttc for 6 months before we got pregnant with our twins. There were months where I did not ovulate and months I did. I personally feel that its the luck of the draw.
