Well I'm in the south and it's definitely saw-yer to me and to the woman I know who named her daughter that. I would have never thought to pronounce it any other way.
Soy-yer, but I've heard Saw-yer in the south as well.
so weird. im in canada, so totally different accent. i would never say saw-yer, or law-yer
Same here! I've never actually heard either pronounced that way.
I can't say that I find Soy-yer and Soy-er to be pronounced differently though. They sound pretty much the same to me...and that's how I would pronounce it.

Soy-er. My hubby would say saw-yer, just like people have different pronunciations of lawyer.

Re: How do YOU pronounce Sawyer?

well, to me soy-yer has more of a pronounced Y sound, as opposed to soy-ER
I actually never thought about this, but SoyYer.

I dont see much difference between soy-yer and soy-er....
Around here all the Sawyers are either pronounced Soy-yer or Saw-yer. I personally prefer Soy-yer
It's pronounced loy-yer in som areas.
Oddly enough I say both depending on the audience I am with. I switch back and for between Soy-yer/Saw-yer and Law-yer/Loy-yer without any problem.
...at least down here it is!
TTC #2... Hoping for PINK!
I say Soy-yer and Loy-yer.
I have a typical New England accent.

SS - age 12...SD - age 8...DS - 13 mos.
ETA: I would never say Saw.yer like the southerners though. It sticks funny in my northern mouth, which doesn't appear capable of saying that way.
