LOL - come on someone had to post it... (and if you don't care - sorry!)
Who's getting hammered? We are bullsided! My undergrad degree is in Meteorology so I am freaking tickled pink! Woo!
So far we have pretty much white out conditions... power outages are starting to pop up... the wind is CRAZY! I just popped out to clear the freaking sludge from the driveway and it was bazerk! We even put my dog's flashing collar on her so we wouldn't lose her! Roads are empty as there is a driving ban. Yeah, you are literally not aloud on the roads. $500 fine and up to a YEAR in jail if you get caught DRIVING. soooo we have the heat blasted in case we lose power and are making a ton of food and celebrating the hub's 31st birthday! Maybe I'll throw up some photos of LO outside tomorrow... her first blizzard! lol
good luck and enjoy to all other experiencing this craziness!
Re: Blizzard 2013!
It only started around five her but its pretty so far!
I had a helluva commute home from work (Long Island). The slush/sleet/snow accumulated so bad under my wipers they stopped working while I was on a highway (only going about 15 mph anyway). Had to go over a half mile using the tail lights on the car ahead of me to stay in my lane. I wasn't going to pull over until I was on the service road.
Might have a nice holiday brew beer once the munchkin is asleep (which should be soon). I better make sure I cancel my clients for tomorrow BEFORE I pop the cap.
Drunken snow angels anyone?
Snow is coming down at 2-3 inches per hour right now. Just got back from shoveling the walks and driveway and in the hour we took, the steps we started at were already covered with snow again. And apparently it's just getting started!
The driving ban was definitely a good call though. It's a mess out there and we did not need a repeat of the Dec 2007 storm. That was just a quick storm, only 8 hours, but with heavy snow. Problem was, everyone left work at 2pm and there were traffic jams, then the plows couldn't clear the roads and I know people who had 30 minute commutes turn into 8 hour commutes. My husband had to walk 2 miles home as his bus was just not going anywhere. This storm started getting strong around 5 pm, if people had been on the road then, they'd still be there now and be potentially trapped on the roads until tomorrow morning.
