Retrieval Tuesday(!)

I went in for another scan today. I have 6 or 7 follies on my right side ranging from around 12 to around 19. 1 small one (11 or so) on the left side, which isn't cooperating -- which is unfortunate, because if it was doing the same thing as the right (and it's capable -- it had the most follies last time!) I'd have a boatload of eggs to retrieve. I thought they'd want me to stim for one more day, but they're not even having me back until Sunday, with an almost certain trigger that night. That will be 13 days of stims -- a lot, but not unheard of, especially on the EPP protocol. And we're doing a mixed (Lupron/HCG) trigger. We'll see if I get some mature eggs.

In other news, I went for a second opinion yesterday (Dr. T at S.IRM NY) and I really liked him. He had some ideas for me that N.YU hadn't suggested and seemed optimistic that it would be worth trying again with my OE. So if this cycle doesn't work out I'm going to him for the next cycle, even though from now on we're out of pocket and it's going to be financially a bit painful. I think sometimes a fresh perspective can help and want to feel like I've tried everything reasonably likely to help before moving on to DE.

Sounds promising! I'm keeping you in my thoughts. I know NYU has a great program, but a second opinion is always refreshing. I think you're right to try everything, and gathering new info from another doctor is so valuable.
