S/O Working Out

S/O Working out, what kind of child care is typically provided at a gym? We have a Riviera Fitness Center near me where I have worked out before, but I never saw the child care room. What do they typically do with the kids in a gym? I am tempted to go see, but I have big trust issues about leaving my kid with anyone that I don't know. I'm also not sure I could justify the expense of a gym membership. (Do you think they would barter a gym membership if I worked child care for a few hours a few days a week? Hmm)

Re: S/O Working Out

  • I actually just joined one today with a childcare area.  Mine is free and included and since I don't have to pay for childcare plus a gym I consider it a good deal as long as you go to the gym.  They also have a kiddie pool which I'm excited to take my LO too.  They have just a play room with all kinds of toys and then a baby area for the smaller babies just like they were in a daycare.  I was impressed with mine but it's not a chain.  I'ts a great deal IMO.

  • It really depends on the gym.  I had a membership at Bally?s, before LA Fitness bought them out, and at their facility the child had to be over one and they did not change diapers, based on their license.  If the child cryed they called you over the loud speaker. Where I take Pilates they offer infant childcare but you have to book in advance to ensure they are in ratio.  I looked at both places I would never leave a non-communicator at the Bally?s daycare but I would be totally fine with it at the other gym.  The gym that allows infants reminded me more of a daycare where the other was kind of like a supervised playground and I would want my child to be able to tell me if they were not happy.
