gDiaper!

I definitely wish that I would have researched some cloth diaper companies BEFORE I had my DD. haha

Anyway, as I was researching for LO#2 I came across gDiapers, what a great solution for DH and myself!

I got some to try our on DD since she is not potty trained yet!

Wish us luck!

Re: gDiaper!

  • Let me know what you think about them... people on the cloth diapering board have very mixed reviews (honestly, mostly negative). We're already set with way too many diapers ourselves. DH said if he could start over he would have wanted 10 BumGenius, 10 Green Mountain workhorse fitteds, and 10 Pooters bamboo fitteds. I agree with that, but I do like prefolds, so I'd get some of those too. For our little one I bought some newborn diapers. With DD we used infant sized prefolds and one-sized BG from the start. I can't believe, looking at photos and thinking back, that I put such bulky diapers on her. They worked ok but looked hilarious. For this little one I've already bought 6 newborn-sized GMD workhorses, a pack of GroVia bamboo prefolds, a couple Swaddlebees all-in-ones, and a GroVia all-in-one.  We already have lots of little covers.

Also, I wish I would have tried one of the cheaper brands of pocket diapers. I love our BG's, and I like that I buy them locally, but I found out only after we had already bought a bunch that Kawaii's are reportedly just as good and a lot cheaper.

There's my unsolicited advice - hope it helps! :)

  • I'm not a big fan of g-diapers either. But they worked for going OOT or right now that our washing machine is busted. My favorites are Rumparooz for NB, Bumgenius elementals and grovia AIOS for the rest. GL!

  • I've never used them.  We chose to go the prefolds/cover route for newborn and then OS pockets for day use and OS AIO's for overnight.

I will give you a word of warning, most people who like gDiapers like them for older babies but not necessarily for newborns.  So, they might work just find on your DD now but be a hot mess for LO#2.  The issue is that newborns and younger babies poop so much.  The poop gets everywhere makings the 3-step system a mess (you have to change the liner, insert, and because the liner was soiled, the cover too).

Have you checked out the FAQ on the CD board? I know ITK recommended it, but there is also a very handy review spreadsheet created by hundreds of Bumpies that rates all the different types of diapers.  Its good to know info.

  • We used gdiapers and had no issues.  We also had a LOT of them so it wasn't and issue.

We did give up on Cding once DD started going to daycare since they do not allow it.

Thank you! I love getting advice and seeing what works best for some people, after trying the gdiaper for a day and a half we have kind of decided that it might not be the best for us, they bunch up and I am not a huge fan of that. I looked into grovia hybrids and I am going to look into prefolds with a cover because everyone who has tried all the diapers also says great things about prefolds and covers.

  • We have been using gDiapers since our LO was about 2 months old and we love them. We have yet to think "Oh I wish we hadn't" or "I wish we would have tried..." One plus, since they do come in various sizes, if for some reason they don't work out for you, you aren't stuck with an entire lot of diapers. I am also realizing with our second LO on the way in August, we won't have to buy more diapers to add to our lot. Our oldest is and will be in larges while are LO#2 will be in smalls. They themselves at gHG (headquarters) are very helpful since they are a small company while other gMums and gDads are also very supportive in answering questions and being honest with what works and doesn't work for them. Good luck!

  • I didn't mind gDiapers until she pooped in them. I only used them when she was super tiny and still having runny newborn breastmilk poop and was totally turned off. I LOVED Fuzzibuns OS when she was smaller (12-16 pounds or so) and really skinny. As she's filled out I like Bumgenius better.  I've got a full stash of newborn sized prefolds and about 15 covers, quite a few Swaddlebees newborn pockets and newborn Happy Heiny, and about 10 Grovia Newborn AIOs for the next one in a couple years.

We've found our niche now with BumGenius Elementals and the occasional trifolded prefold in a cover.
