Lately DD will only fall asleep on my chest. I have to let her sleep there for 20 minutes or so before putting her in her crib or she'll wake up and fuss. I'm not sure if it's considered a good or bad thing. I know this has been posted about before, but I can't find those posts right now. What would you do?
Re: Sleeping on chest
To let you!
DS did this and so does DD... this was the only way to get any sleep with DS... go to the attachment parenting board for good info on cosleeping and bed sharing
I
her sleeping there and dont believe its spoiling her in any way... you cant spoil babies
ETA: DS transitioned fairly smoothly to his crib by 5-6 months but was okay sleeping in various places (ie swing, PnP, crib) for short periods by 3-4 months... some babies just need the extra cuddles
Another thought is by having her sleep on me on her tummy and not always in the same spot on her back is we may be avoiding some flat head. Maybe?
DS would sleep on my chest all the time. In fact, it was the only way that he would sleep, typically. We also co-slept (not while he was on my chest) for 2 1/2 months and I was worried about creating a monster, but he went into his crib without any problems.
It's the same thing with DS2, and I'm not worried. Like a PP said, I make sure that he has his head turned to the side to breathe but otherwise, he's happy as a clam.
Also agree with this entirely.
this is totally how we are getting by, too. I have been pretty sore from my csection and its hard to get up and down out of bed, so dd and I end up sleeping on the couch together with her on my chest from about 2-6 am. DH takes the 9p -2a timeframe and tries to at least get her to sleep in her swing for a little bit.
