Green Poop?

Jackson only gets breast milk either from boob or bottle. His poop as always been mustard yellow and the past few days it's been green. Has anyone else experienced this? My diet hasn't really changed and the only difference in Jackson's actions is he's been sleeping more and eating more. My guess is growth spurt. I've read that green could mean allergy but I haven't changed anything. Would you be concerned?

Re: Green Poop?

  • We went through the same thing a month ago with DD. Ped said it was totally fine. It even got thicker, and he still said fine. Now it's sometimes the seedy mustard, sometimes the dark guacamole. Interestingly enough, it also started around the time she started sleeping and eating more.

  • We get green poop sometimes. Ped says not to worry as long as it doesn't get hard. I'm not looking forward to solid food poops!

  • Yep, we had plenty of green. I think pretty much everything goes except seeing blood (duh) and totally black (which could also be blood).

  • If he's not acting uncomfortable, I'd probably not be concerned.

Confession: When I saw the title my first thought was blueberries. See the fun you have to look forward to with solids?

  • The same thing happened with DD when she was about Jackson's age! It only lasted about a week, and then it went back to normal. Someone told me that anything the color of fall leaves is nothing to worry too much about :) The pediatrician wasn't overly concerned, either, so long as she wasn't exhibiting any other symptoms of anything.

  • The only other reason for green poop I've heard is formilk/ hindmilk imbalance. But like others said if there is no discomfort, I wouldn't worry.
