Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Silly question about age of LO

How are you ladies marking the weeks and months old? I had him on Monday January 7th. Every Monday I say he is another week older, making him one month February 4th but dr office and a baby app seem to be saying the 7th of each month is the one month point. I know his birthday won't be on a Monday so just wondering how you ladies measure their age? By the weekday or by the month date. I know super silly question. TIA

  • Not a dumb question. I was wondering this myself!

  • If you're counting weeks, I count it based on the day of the week.  So she was born on a Sunday so the first Sunday she was one week, then two, then three, then four weeks on the 4th Sunday.  She didn't turn one month until February 6th because she was born on January 6th...

  • There are not exactly 4 weeks in a month. So on the 7th he is a month old and on the 4th he is 4 weeks. Usually, when they are really small I would say "LO is 6 weeks old" or "10 weeks old." But after a couple months I just said "LO is 3 months" etc.

    This is what we do.

  • I have asked this before. lol
My dd will be 12 weeks next Wednesday the 13th and then the following week on the 21st her birth date she will be 3months.
I will stop using weeks after 12 weeks and then anytime some asks I will say her age in months.
  • Same as your pregnancy. There aren't 4 weeks in a month, so you go based on the actual days of the weeks (when counting by weeks) and then the day of the month (when counting by months.)

  • 4 weeks =/= 1 month. That's why the whole, "You're really pg for 10 months!" is a load of crap. You're really pg for 9 months, counting from LMP, and the first month doesn't even really "count" IMO since you don't know you're pg yet. So it's really more like 8 months from BFP to delivery. Anyway, I digress. At 4wks your baby is 4 wks old. On the 7th (or whatever) your baby is 1 month old.
