Robin!

I'm so glad I started that HIIT class. Last night was my 4th one. DH and his BFF came with me last week and then last night they both came back and his BFF brought a friend. It's become a group thing that's a lot of fun. We do the class and then go back to my house and take turns making a healthy dinner.

The class is really tough, though. There are 12 different stations alternating between strength training and cardio. There's stuff like a mule pull, holding yourself in a plank while you and a partner pull a sandbag back and forth between you, tossing a medicine ball, etc. I'm getting to feel pretty "capable" on most of the stations now, but I have such crappy arm strength I really struggle with push ups/planks. Any advice on how to build my strength up better for those other than just doing that exercise over and over each day?

This is my siggy. Love it.

Re: Robin!

  • Pushups.  They are one of the most efficient strength exercises in existence.  You can always start at your knees and movie up.  Theres something called the 100 pushup challenge you could google and try

This is probably what I need. Everytime I try new weight exercises I have to end up stopping because my shoulders are burning....not the muscle I am working. Is this bad strength in my shoulders or am I doing the exercise incorrectly.

Sorry to jump into this thread.

I could be a combo of both.  Can you give an example?

Something as simple as curls or even when I box.

  • boxing is going to use your shoulders a lot.

If curls make your shoulders burn I would guess that you're swinging the weight instead of keeping it controlled so you isolate the muscles.
