Babies on the Brain

LO#2 arrived and we're team...

...blue!  He arrived 01/16 and was 7 lbs 11 oz.  Happy and healthy and DD loves him and is as helpful as a 2 yo can be.  Sorry I've been MIA.  Here's the birth story:

Woke up that morning and rolled out of bed to pee and felt a little gush as I stood up.  DH was running through the planned schedule for the day and I interrupted him and said we probably had new plans.  He called MIL while I called my dr.  Dr. said to go to L&D and get checked out.  MIL came over to wait for DD to wake up and take her to school (and keep her for the next few days).

Went to L&D where monitored the contractions that had started on the drive over, but they couldn't confirm if my water actually broke.  I wasn't even 1 cm and the contractions weren't regular enough for them to keep me, so they sent me home.  I was sure my water had broken, but figured this was my only chance to eat, so I took it.

Went out for lunch and timed contractions the whole meal.  Then went home to rest while DH took care of a few things.  Then the contractions got painful and almost regular enough (every 5 minutes for an hour - except I kept getting a 10 minute break that would 'reset the clock' so I never actually made the hour).

Checked back in to L&D and I was 5 cm.  I told them I wanted the epi ASAP and it felt like forever, but I know they did it as soon as they could.  From there on out, it was uneventful until my dr. came to check in on me and said I could start pushing.  20 minutes of pushing and I got to hear DH exclaim "It's a boy!"

All in all it was about a 12 hour day and very smooth sailing.  We couldn't be happier!

an asshole in his bathrobe, emptying a chemical toilet into my sewer."
