    1. How many kids do you have? Ages?
Just one kid. He is almost 1.

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?
He is GDD, has hypotonia, and has feeding issues.

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?
I noticed around 4 months, but really voiced my concerns at 6 months. He wasn't reaching for anything and he would let his head fall hard during tummy time.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom?
I love his smiles and giggles. He does so many cute funny things.

    5. What is your job?
I lost my job when I broke my foot, so I'm a fulltime mom right now.

    1. How many kids do you have? Ages?
    One son, 18 months.

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?
Holoprosencephaly, Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (both are brain abnormalities), a neural tube defect called an Encephalocele (hole in skull), and a dysplastic kidney.

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?
He was prenatally diagnosed at 21 weeks. They noticed a few things at the anatomy scan and sent me for a level 2 u/s to confirm some of the defects. A few of the other diagnoses came during his NICU stay.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom?
I love watching him get excited about learning new things. His "proud" face is adorable.

    5. What is your job?
I am a nanny. I have worked with my current family for almost 5 years, and I bring DS with me. I watch 2 boys who will be 6 at the end of the month and 10 in early March.

    1. How many kids do you have? Ages?

I have a DS who is 21 months and DS2 is due May 2nd

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?

DS1 was diagnosed with ASD, I guess specifically PDD-NOS, yesterday.

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?

It's hard to say. I guess my first indication was when he didn't transition to pur?ed foods until 9months. I thought that was just an isolated incident. His physical milestones were always slightly delayed but it wasn't until 15 months that I noticed his speech wasn't developing and it wasn't  until 18 months that his speech was significantly delayed. I thought all his sensory issues were because he was a quirky toddler.  Its tough having a SN child as your first because you don't know what's normal!

    4. What do you love most about being a mom?

My son is so joyful! I love watching him explore and he gives the best hugs!

    5. What is your job?

I have been a stay at home mom since my DS was born! I was a high school math teacher before that.

    DS1: 4/15/2011
Dx: ASD, SPD and receptive and expressive speech delay at 21 months
    BFP #2: CP 5/2012
    DS2: 4/24/2013
    BFP #4: Miscarriage at 5 weeks 7/2014
    BFP #5: 8/8/2014 Due 4/20/2015

    1. How many kids do you have? Fraternal twin boys Ages? 4

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms? One of them is typically developing (though he's had issues with lots of food allergies and asthma); the other has hypotonia (which caused gross and fine motor delays and oral motor issues so he had PT, OT and feeding therapy), anxiety, mild perseverations and SPD, which went from "moderate" to "mild" after 15 months of therapy. There are also some social and other concerns that aren't captured in that but those 4 things are what the devel pedi concluded after evaluating him this fall.

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice? Gosh, that's a long story. There were a lot of little things here and there starting in infancy. He always seemed "floppy." He was the most sedentary baby and toddler I'd ever seen. He wouldn't make eye contact at close range until 18m ... but it was mysterious b/c he would if you were more than 4-5' away. He would always meet his gross motor milestones just when I started to worry ... until he turned 2 and then the gap with his peers really started to widen. He was extremely cautious. He was still drooling at 2.5 and totally unaware of it. He tended to gag and choke while eating, like he still hadn't gotten the hang of how much food to put in his mouth and how to move it through his mouth without choking. Wasn't interacting with peers at all by the time he turned 3. There's more but that's the bulk of it. I had questions for my pedi at a bunch of well visits, stopped worrying somewhat from 18m-about 2y3m (since for a while it seemed like he was catching up at his own pace) and finally contacted EI at 2.5.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom? The snuggles and the neat conversations.

    5. What is your job? SAHM, though I have a couple very PT WAH gigs.

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?  ASD mild to moderate

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?  I didn't really notice.  Our ped was concerned at his 18 month appt when we told her he had 0 words.  Everyone in my family kept telling me not to worry.  "All the boys are late talkers in our family ..."  I also noticed that he didn't actually "play" with toys- just mouth them and throw them.  So we consented to the evaluations and he got put into EI right after that, speech and special instruction.  When he was making no real progress in speech, he had a psych eval and he was dx'd with PDD NOS - he started ABA just after his 2nd birthday.  To the person who said it's really hard because you don't know what's normal and what's not - AMEN sister!

    4. What do you love most about being a mom? Kisses.  And having that magical mommy power of making everything better when they get hurt.

    1. How many kids do you have? Ages?
    2 girls, dd1 is just over 3 & dd2 will be 2 this month

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?

in my siggy, although dd1 has had major improvements in her bladder/uro issues

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?

I had horrible pregnancies both were high risk and I had a partial placental abruption with dd1, dd2 had placental issues as well & also had IUGR.  But, after birth, we noticed dd1 had significant torticollis and started PT at 2 months, we saw neuro at 6 months and had MRI to confirm prenatal stroke & mild CP, the other diagnosis just kinda kept popping up & adding on.  DD2 has an immune disorder that is better as well, but spent a lot of time in the hospital on/off & has issues with periodic fevers (105+) that last for days.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom?

I love that I am their go to # 1 person, but dh sees the girls 30mins a day 6 days a week if he is lucky so I'm more like a single mom.  When dd2 wraps her arms around me or dd1 tells me how much she loves me, it makes it all worth it.

    5. What is your job?

I've been a pharmacy technician for 11 years now, I was pre-nursing but had to drop classes when I was put on bedrest with dd1.  Still haven't made it back!

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms? Ds has an unidentified autoimmune disorder, sort of resembles polymyositis, has extreme episodes of rhabdomyolysis. It cause kidney failure, resulting in dialysis and a transplant (11 years ago in April). He also has athsma, hydrocephalus, and is dyslexic.

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? Athsma showed up at 8m, the rhabdo at 15m, the rest came crashing down around 18m.

What did you notice? With the rhabdo, he couldn't weight bear, he screamed like something was broken. The docs had no idea why.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom? The hugs. No question.

    5. What is your job? Short answer? Accounting.

    1. How many kids do you have? Two, DD is 5.5 and DS is 3.5
    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?  DD has a gross and fine motor delay, caused by gravitational insecurity and sensory issues with her vestibular system.  She also has low tone in her core.  DS has an eye defect that causes one of his pupils not to dilate.
    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?  With DD, she had torticollis that we noticed around 8w old.  She was in PT for that and gross motor delay from 2-18 months.  She didn't bear weight on her arms until 7ish months, rolled over at 8 months, crawled at 11 months, walked at 18 months.  When she was 2.5 and better able to verbalize how her body was feeling, I had her evaluated by an OT and they finally figured out the vestibular piece.  She's been getting PT since basically birth and OT since 2.5, now on an IEP at kindergarten for both.  DS's eye issue was present at birth, but we noticed it at his 4 week appointment. So far, all of his testing has come out normally, but we have to take him in for rechecks pretty often.
    4. What do you love most about being a mom? I love seeing my kids play together and watching their imaginations develop.
    5. What is your job? I'm a SAHM now, but I worked in international development before kids.

    Great idea!

    1. How many kids do you have? Ages? 3 and 2

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms? My three year old has an articulation delay and sensory processing issues. My two year old has an expressive/receptive language delay, low tone (which oddly enough never caused her any motor delays), and sensory processing issues. We are having her evaluated for ASD.

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?

With my older child, at 18 months I was concerned due to lack of language (though my pedi brought it up at 15 months and I decided to wait it out). We got him evaluated by EI where he tested at the 9 month old level of receptive/expressive language. We didn't know that he had sensory issues until his SLP told me his behaviors were atypical. His language delays were resolved in a year and he's left with just an artic delay.

With my youngest we were more proactive/knowledgable. We had her evaluated at 17 months due to the fact her speech hadn't progressed since 12 months/she had fluid in her ears and wasn't listening well. I requested an OT eval for sensory issues early on in the process since I knew what was concerning.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom? Hugs and kisses, watching them grow and learn new things.

    5. What is your job? I SAH during the day, waitress at nights 1-2 days a week for extra cash.

4). My kid is so much fun.  Lately, I've been loving just watching him figure stuff out.  His laughter. Hugs and kisses.

    5) I'm a SAHM.  I never expected to SAH beyond the first year because I didn't expect to enjoy it.   Well I didn't enjoy that first year but since then it's been great.  I used to work for a financial company.  I was very good at my job but also very bored.

    Ages?

M is legally 10, biologially about 12.5 (adopted 2.5 years ago at legal age 7)

J is 6 (adopted almost a year ago at age 5)

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?

M has a fetal alcohol syndrome disorder (and dyslexia) and had a congenital heart defect (coarctation of the aorta) until we had it repaired just after we brought him home (at legal age 7)

J has Neurofibromatosis, type 1, and recurring sinusitis that we believe has a deeper cause.

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?

For M, they discovered the heart defect about 6 months before we adopted him.  We knew he had learning difficulties at the end of his first school year with us, so about 9 months after we brought him home, at legal age 8.  We discovered the FASD this past December.

J was diagnosed with the NF1 at birth when he also had pneumonia.  The recurring sinusitis was diagnosed shortly thereafter.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom?

Watching them excel and learn new things, especially watching their character and control grow.  Also, how much fun the boys are!

    5. What is your job?

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?I noticed when she was 2 months old regarding her plagio. The right side of her head was pretty misshapen and flat. She had a chronic cough which we thought was recurring croup because the pedi kept telling us that coughing is normal. Then, six weeks ago it was really bad, so that is when we knew something was wrong.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom?I love the cuddling moments with both DDs. I am just happy if they are happy.

    Great Idea!

    1. How many kids do you have? Ages?

Just one.  DD just turned 2.

    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms?

DD was born 14 weeks premature which has led to a whole host of DX...

Laryngomalacia, Tracheomalacia, Glottic Stenosis and Subglottic Stenosis, all of which have led to a Tracheostomy.

Oral aversion, GERD and possible dysphagia, which have led to a G-Tube.

Farsightedness and Strabismus, which have led to glasses (which DD will never leave on).

Cerebral Palsy resulting from PVL.  And, overall grey matter loss.

Chronic Lung Disease, Reactive Airway Disease, Compromised immune system, Nephrocalcinosis (resolved) and ROP (resolved).

    How's that for alphabet soup!

    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice?

Well, with DD being so premature, we expected some complications.  Most of the medical DX showed up while DD was still in the NICU.  She began missing milestones around 6 months old (3 months adjusted), so we got a few therapies lined up but progress was slow.  I noticed around 9 months old (6 months adjusted) that DD favored her left hand and would often fist her hands.  I pushed for her to be evaluated for CP when she turned 1.  She got her DX at 1.5.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom?

There is a lot about being a mom that I love... Watching DD triumph over adversity (those AHA moments of hers).  Being one of two people who can comfort her when she's upset.  Seeing how excited she gets when she sees me.  Watching her grow up in front of our eyes.

    5. What is your job?

I'm the director of religious education at a medium sized Unitarian Universalist church.

    1. How many kids do you have? Ages? 1 DS, almost 5 years old
    2. What is your child's DX or symptoms? PDD-NOS
    3. What age did you or someone else know something was different? What did you notice? I never once thought about it. When DS was 18 months we switched in-home daycare providers. She was kindof a Type A Mom who obsessed over every little developmental detail of her children. She called me one night and told me she feared DS was developmentally delayed because he wasn't speaking, and more importantly, wasn't playing with the other kids. I laughed at her and was also furious that she was trying to call me out. We got in this huge argument and I ended up agreeing to visit her pedi just to make her happy. I thoroughly expected to be able to tell her HA! Told ya so! Her pedi referred us for an EI evaluation. That freaked me out a bit. Watching the evaluation was also concerning, because I could see that he clearly wasn't meeting the objectives he was testing for (eye contact, playing with toys, etc.) He was diagnosed by the school district at 19 months and we started EI immediately.

    4. What do you love most about being a mom? It's such a great excuse to do fun stuff! If it's cold and snowing outside I can say, hey, let's go to the mall of america and go on rides and go out for lunch, and call it a Mom/Son day.

    1.  I have 2 kids, DS is 4 and DD will be two next week

    2.  DS is diagnosed right now with fine and visual motor delays, and sensory issues

    3.  Looking back now, there have always been quirks with DS..we wrote off a lot of infant irritability to being 5 weeks premature--he was a hard to calm baby, GI issues, etc.  As he grew older he used to slam himself into the back of his crib to fall asleep, didn't really enjoy being cuddled, and had issues touching certain items.  When he hit two he changed into a ball of nerves, his behavior went from excellent to beyond out of control.  At this time we also began to notice he was having trouble progressing with things--he wouldn't climb, or be able to play with certain toys because they were "too hard', wouldn't color, couldn't engage in play very well.  We were told by everyone & pedi this was typical 2...but it lasted into 3, and we had him evaluated after he started school because he couldn't complete some activities and was too hands on with his classmates.  We aren't sure what else might be going on--have some flags-so are going dev pedi route.

    4.  The thing I love most about being a mom is just being able to be a mom and have 2 amazing children that I get to mother..
