Lo is 3 1/2 weeks and she cries and cries when husband tries to give her a bottle. I have work on the weekends and need her to take a bottle while I'm gone. Any advice?! Please help!
Hi, does she take a bottle from you, or is she breasted and only gets a bottle from dad?
Assuming she does take a bottle from you, here are a few ideas...
1. Have dh hold a shirtbofnyour or something with your scent while he feeds her
2. Have him try feeding you either in exactly the same place you do, or a totally different spot alltogether. He may have to establish his own feeding ritual.
3. Have dad take his shirt off, unzip baby and lay baby skin to skin on dad for a while prior to feeding, and have as much skin to skin as possiblenwhilendfeedinf
4. Is dad warming bottle to the same temp you are?
dd is 11 wo and i'm also in the same boat. i'm bfing and having been trying the bottle 1-2 times a day for over a month now. couple things we have done that has helped sometimes...
i wore the bottle nipple in my shirt for 20 mins or so then fed dd with it, didn't willing take the bottle, but much less screaming.
having dd watch somebody like mil or dh, or if i'm home alone i'll put the tv on and have her try to watch hockey...seems to calm her down.
walking around the house and moving in general while feeding.
since she hasn't and won't suck from the bottle, we use playtex drop ins with medium flow nipple. after warming the bm, we squeeze a lil milk into her mouth until she swallows. this works just takes FOREVER. seriously 2 oz in 20 mins, with burping fairly frequently bc i think she takes in a lot of air. by the end of it, she was so upset and crying, i put her in her swing and she passed right out!
