Graco SnugRide 35 vs. 30

Hey ladies,

We are having twins and I was wondering the thoughts and pros and cons of the different sizes. I know they are usually heavier the bigger they are and also make fitting them in cars and SUVS harder. So I was trying to stick with the 30 and 35 but I wasn't sure what my best bet would be? I know some have said they are outgrowing the 30 before they reach the 30lb mark.

For our twins, we borrowed a SnugRide 30 from a friend and we bought a SnugRide 35.  We only went with the 35 for the fabric though and both seats snapped into the bases interchangeably.  I couldn't really see a big size difference between the two seats.  I was able to install them both in my Mazda3 sedan but I'm rather short (5'0") and the seats are pushed fairly forward.  My son rode in the 30 and he outgrew it by height at 18 months and 24ish pounds.  My daughter could probably still be riding around in the 35 but we switched them both to convertible seats at teh same time.  My kids are teeny tiny.

We had a Snugride 32, so kind of in the middle.

My child is a peanut and will never hit the weight limit...on anything. The 35 (and 32) does fit them longer in length, which is why we went with it instead of the 30. I heard many babies grow out of the 30 around 6 months and being an August baby, I wanted to make it through the winter in it. Look at the length and not the height. There is no way you will want to carry a 30+lb baby in an infant seat.

We ended up switching seats around 9 months. She still fit, but the infant seats starts getting super heavy and you no longer want to lug them around in it. Since you have twins, you may hit this point even sooner than I did.

I would look at the cost difference and see if the bigger one is worth it. I have also heard that the base is nicer for the 32/35, but it's the only one I've used.

We were going to go with the 30 after reading what others had said about the 35 being too big and you end up either leaving it in the car or switching to a convertible before they hit the limits because they're too heavy to lug around. We ended up finding a 35 on clearance at BRU for $80, which was cheaper than the 30's so we went for it. It is pretty big, I recently read that they're hard to fit into booths at restaurants but for what we saved, I'm okay with it. If the 30 is significantly less $, I'd say go with that and use the extra towards better convertible seats down the road.  

Just make sure which ever seat you choose has the strap adjustment between the legs...I think it's just the original snugrides, but some gracos don't have this and you would have to tighten and loosen them from the back each time

We had the SnugRide 35 and DD rode in that until she was around 18-20 months. We just left it in the car, no way did we haul that thing in and out of the house with her inside (unless she was asleep - that did come in handy when we didn't want to wake her). We really liked the seat and I don't recall ever having any issues with it due to the size of it.

At that time, we had a Toyota Camry and her seat was in the middle. DH is 6'1" and had plenty of room.

I had two large, tall babies, so I wanted an infant seat that would get us through the whole first winter. I only considered seats with a 32" height limit. DD1 was 32 1/4" at 1 year (and 22 1/2 lbs). DD2 hit 32" right around 14 months, and she was around 25 lbs at the time.

Between the Snugride 35 and 30, I'd probably choose the 35 just because it has 2" more room. But, I would also consider the regular Snugride. It has a 22 lb weight limit and a 29" height limit. Your babies will still outgrow it by height first, but since they're twins, they'll likely be a little smaller and be able to use it a bit longer. It's only $70-75 at Walmart right now. (The Snugride 35 is $135.)

I would do the 30.  We have the 32 and both my kids outgrew it lengthwise first.

I wouldn't do the 22 for twins. My average size babies didn't fit in the 22s correctly at birth. The 30 and the 35 are rated for 4lbs and up, so they would be better for smaller babies.

I was hell bent on the 30 bc I'm tiny an didn't want anything too heavy.  According to the specs, the 35 is 1.2 lbs heavier than the 30.  I registered for the 35 based on fabric at that point.  Good luck.

I wouldn't do the 22 for twins. My average size babies didn't fit in the 22s correctly at birth. The 30 and the 35 are rated for 4lbs and up, so they would be better for smaller babies.

I didn't realize the original didn't go small enough for twins. I guess Graco actually made a couple improvements with the newer versions.

Thanks for the help ladies! I appreciate it. I think I am going to probably go with the 30 for the weight and such. But I may change my mind once at the store.
