DH has lost his mind

The military is sending him to Georgia in May for two weeks. He says "Why don't we use that as our "last vacation before baby." I could go down and we can drive up to Charleston(like a half hour drive).

Um, becuase I'll be 36 weeks pregnant. There is noooooo way my OB will ok that. And I don't want to deliver at some random hospital. Although it would be kind of cool if LO was born in Georgia since I was born there. Try again DH.

  • I think you can still travel within the US at 36 weeks if everything is healthy.  I am pretty sure my doc limits travel at 38 weeks.

I'm flying to Miami at 34 weeks to speak at a conference. Could be exciting!

I should be able to travel, but I don't think she'll want me 10 hours from home.

  • LOL!  Silly husbands!

My husband isn't good at understanding things he hasn't experienced.  I had to just wait him out and let him actually SEE how huge and pregnant and slow moving I became.  He just didn't get certain things until we were actually at that point, he thought being pregnant was NBD in the beginning.

Hahaha, but by the time I was 36 weeks, he was scared for me to drive off to work each day since I had a long commute.  Funny how his tune changed!

Honestly, your doctor doesn't personally care where you are.  They "care" because they assume you, the patient, wants to deliver with them and in the hospital near you.  I'm not saying I'd go :)  But really, it doesn't matter at all what your doctor thinks (unless you've got specific medical concerns) - it only matters how you feel about it.

  • Ha! Silly Mr.BLT.... my Hubby got all freaked cause it was slippery this morning- made sure that I would walk out in the dusting of snow on the grass, so I wouldn't fall and slide down the driveway. Could be the fact that he fell on his bum in last weeks ice though....

  • Yeah. My OB nixed the idea of me traveling to DC the first weekend of May. He said the travel itself is fine as long as everything is going well but being that far away within a month of your due date is a bad idea just in case anything happened

Idk. Maybe if we went down the week before his school, I rode with him and then flew back. He's wanting to go after at which point I think I'd be 38 weeks. I need him to answer my text about the actual dates!

  • Because of my past experience of pre-term labor with no warning there is no way I would consider traveling more then an hour away that late in my pregnancy.

  • Can't airlines deny you boarding if you're past a certain point? Without a doctors note or something?

Yes, I'd check with the airline.  Some won't let you on at all in the 3rd trimester.

  • His class is when I'm 36-38 weeks. So after is completely out of the question. The weekend before is my baby shower so unless we went during the week, I don't think it is going to happen.

They can but it's not usually as far out as people think.  American won't let you fly domestically if you're within 7 days of your due date.  United just requires a note from your doctor within so many days of your flight that verifies you're healthy to travel.  Those are the two I know.

  • Say WHUT. No, Mr. BLT. No.

However, if you find yourself in GA anyway, please stop by and say hi :)

I'm not new. I just hate The Bump.

  • Silly husband. My DH wanted to go to a conference in St Louis that lasts until June 17th (due date June 19th). He said it would give TWO WHOLE DAYS of leeway. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.
