BFing and never leaking??

I've only leaked once since BFing, is that normal?? I feel like my supply isn't very hugh but I definitely BF DD every 2-3 hours, and I BF in the night about every 3 hours... What else can I do to make more milk??

Not that I want to leak, but I feel like I should leak sometimes... right??

  • I have only leaked once. I don't think there is anything wrong with my supply

  • Usually only those with too much milk leak frequently. I rarely leak and my supply is ample.
  • LOL. okay, I feel better :)

  • I didn't leak with DD until she was 3 or 4 weeks old.  It still may be coming.  Even then, I didn't leak much.
  • If your baby seems satisfied and is gaining weight, I'm sure you are fine. If you are truly worried, pump some to see how much you are getting.

BTW - consider yourself lucky, my milk lets down and literally shoots through my shirt like a watetr gun if I don't have my Lilly Padz in!

  • I've only leaked once and I know that I have a good supply.
  • I've been breast feeding exclusively for 3 months and I only started to leak at night in the past few weeks because DD started sleeping 7-8 hours at night without nursing.  Before that, I had never leaked and my supply is great.  As long as you feed DD on demand and she gains weight at the right rate, your supply is perfect.  There's no reason to make more milk, unless you are pumping to build up a freezer stash if you're going back to work (in which case, just pump 4-6 times a day).  But basically, you're making plenty of milk if your baby is satisfied and gaining weight (keep in mind that it's normal at this age for baby to eat every couple of hours- their stomachs simply won't hold any more, even if you produce more!).

  • I have a really good supply, and I never leak... well, maybe once or twice when he slept longer than normal during the night, but even then it was minimal.  I've never experienced the "shooting' milk that others talk about.
